Very good location and clean! We had a great time at the beautiful city of Kyoto!

This is a ve good hotel !!!

The location of this hostel is EVERYTHING. Even though it is located in the middle of Kyoto's shopping street, the hostel itself is quite peaceful in the small street. You can find everything you want in nearby areas. However, the room I stayed (Basic Double Bed Private Shared Bathroom) is pretty small and the wall between rooms is kinda thin. Compared with the price we paid, I think it's a bit expensive. But probably all places in Japan are expensive.

Bed and pillow were very comfortable. Staff were super helpful. Highly recommended.

The location was really great and the staff had lots of information about the area and what to do in Kyoto. Also, there were lots of resources and city maps that you could use if you just wanted to explore a bit. The bed was really comfy as well.

Although Khaosan was in a great location and had kind staff members, its facilities weren't very clean nor spacious. Cooking in the kitchen in particular is not recommend in this hostel. During our stay, the fridge was stuffed with food and one of the stovetops was out of order. It was very cramped and it wasn't very clean. The bathrooms have similar problems as well. We stayed in a nice double room, but I'd imagine that those staying in a dorm wouldn't be in for a pleasant experience.

For a hostel in Japan, the space was great (the beds, bedrooms, bathrooms, lounge, etc.). Everything was clean and tidy, well organized. The staff was helpful and their English was very good. For such a large hostel, there wasn't a huge communal feel, the atmosphere was more hotel than backpacker.

I really enjoyed the feel of Khaosan Kyoto. Excellent facilities, good location, and calm environment. The staff was extremely helpful in suggesting places to see and restaurants to try. Their directions were decent and were all around helpful. Additionally they had great directions to key tourist locations in Kyoto. The common room was also comfortable and a good place to chat with other travelers. I would gladly stay in this hostel again.

Great hostel. Khaosan is never a miss. The beds are comfortable and the shower are nice. Nice atmosphere, great living room on the fourth floor. At walking distance of nice restaurants, temples and Gion.

Very helpful reception, the cleanest dorms I've ever seen in a hostel ever and a well equipped bar in the basement. What can you ask more? You will love it.

What a great hostel this is. The staff is so wonderful and very informative. They have maps of all of the different sites and wonderful nearby restaurants. They also sell day bus passes at the desk for $5! The six person room is great. The beds are comfortable and are private with the curtains. And the room had an awesome outdoor patio! My only complaint was that someone stole my bottle of sake out of the communal fridge. But that is out of the hostel's control. Great hostel experience!

The cab driver was a little confused by the (English-language) directions webpage; mentioning the cross streets would have helped.
