Pros - In a nice area (if not far from Montmartre itself) - free breakfast - towel hire only 1 euro - they don't mind if you bring alcohol from elsewhere Cons - staff surly and didn't volunteer any of the important information - Internet failed 4 out of 5 nightsIwas there (unable to Skype or Facebook) - shower seriously mouldy - 2 power sockets in entire 6 bed dorm - no lifts, staircase in second building is gruelling - when wireless internet works, it functions only in the lobby

I loved the Montclair. All the people staying there were very social so it was good for me travelling alone. The breakfast was really good as far as French breakfasts go, it was certainly more than I expected. My only problems were 1) the shower didn't have a proper tap so you had to push a button the whole time you wanted water to come out and 2) on of the girls at reception was kind of sour - but the rest of the staff were really lovely and helpful. Overall it was great value for money : )

This hostel is quite good but it is not very convinent that there is no lift. If hams and eggs will be provided in the breakfast, will be better.

Good experience with minor drawbacks. To begin with, excellent location, friendly staff and nice guests. Breakfast was good and the room clean enough. Rooms come without bath towels and bed sheets and it's 2$ for the towels (sheets are free). The guy didn't mention it and we spent the 1st night without such items (too tired to question it and also we were on the 5th floor - no elevator). We fixed it the day after but yet the guy should have mention it. Overall, great value for the money.

The rooms and bathrooms were friggin small...I also helped some girl's to take their luggage up to 4th floor because there was no elevator and stairs were steep and small, they were gassed out after one...The breakfast was really nice though....one of the best croissant that I ha in France...I had to book this hotel because all others were booked out for new years eve...For 30 Euros they could do better..

The reviews about the noise were very accurate. The walls really were very thin, and at night the noise can become a little unsettling. But everything else was decent.

Although It was my first experience sharing a room with people I don't know, I must say It was a good one. The Staff was really friendly and they were able to help me every time I needed. The WiFi was not good enough, since every night there were at least 10 Persons trying to use it, but when no-one else was using it (Mostly during the morning)it was sufficient. I wouldn't call bread and cereal a buffet breakfast, but It was right for what we paid.

I'm not sure whether my comments will be absolutely fair, given the fact I've arrived at or around midnight and staff was exhausted. As far as overall impression I found the place as average. I guess daytime would be a rather better sample to judge and I left around 05:00 hrs. not having the time to really appreciate the entitr place. That is all I can say for now Thank you.

I have stayed in many hostels and hotels throughout Europe, including 10-12 person dorm rooms, but have never experienced noise like I did here. My sister and I had our own room too. Walls and doors are very thin and you can hear everything - every door opening or closing, every voice, etc. Made it so hard to get sleep. Beyond that it was fine.

Rooms are really very very small even the beds. It was very difficult to sleep 2 person properly.Unfortunately there was a lot of noise in the corridor and it comes to the room very much even the next doors discussion were coming to us. It is a bit ridiculous.

The staff is helpful. However, there is no lift so we need to move our luggage to the third floor. and the toilet is small, bad smell and dirty. The things in kitchen is sometimes terrible. if only stay one or two days, this is no problem.

Staff were excellent and very helpful! Wouldn't probably recommend as a place to meet other travelers if you were by yourself but as somewhere that is safe and friendly and in a great location then this is the place to be!

Half of the staff were very friendly and helpful, one particular female staff was very rude and short. The shower was tiny and raised so it got water all over the floor. The breakfast was good. Free wifi is only available in the downstairs section near the front desk. The area is close to a dodgy suburb so keep your possession close!

It was decent except I don't really like the concept of the bathroom and shower being attached to the room when I'm in a 6 person dorm (one shower and one toilet obviously). Breakfast was good. I wish the downstairs breakfast room was open all the time because it often got crowded on the first floor, the only place where the wifi worked. Speaking of, the wifi didn't work often (assuredly not on evenings) and you have to get a new access password everyday at the front desk. I would recommend it.
