Very clean hostel with a modern feel. Located by the train station which you can take a 5 minute ride into the city center. Good atmosphere but if you want to party I would suggest staying near the red light district.

Twice now I have stayed in this branch of hostel. Both times I booked a certain dorm and was given another, being told by reception it doesn't matter what you selected on the website. They just put you in whatever room is available at the time. No where else does this. Its very simple, if you don't have availability in certain rooms, state this on the website and I can book somewhere else and not be lured in by false advertising.

The hostel has everything you need for a nights sleep which is all you really ask for sometimes. In terms of location it's sort of in the middle of nowhere, you have to take a 10 minute train to the centre of Amsterdam. The staff were not the most helpful but you can't expect much from Meininger as they are a bigger company with branches in most major cities, they are more of a hotel than a hostel.

Very impersonal setting, it is more like a hotel. The hotel is out of the city centre (not walkable), however, it is only 1 train station away from central.

The hostel was very comfortable. The breakfast t for 7 euros was also a good deal, toast hard boiled eggs, cheeses and cold cut meats. Very clean, my only complain is that my room was for eight people and we only had six lockers. Very close to the train station and also very close to Schipol only 4,5€. Excellent for meeting new people.

Only stayed for one night here because of an early flight the next day, but was very impressed with the place. The room was pristine and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back!

Good hostel for groups. Clean and good facilities. May be a bit hard for a solo traveller. We stayed here for a festival and was perfect location. A great cafe BRET close by.

We enjoyed our stay. Everything was really clean. Brekfast until 10:30 for just €7.90 all you can eat! Rooms were nice clean, beds and pillows were super comfortable. Shower was a nice good size. It is relatively close to everything only 10-15 minute tram to the main points you will want to visit. And basically right outside the train station.

Slightly expensive but it is a great hostel.

wonderful hostel with more of a hotel feel if anything! The communal areas (bar and kitchens) were well equipped and the staff were extremely helpful. The only minor downside would have to be the location as it is a train ride away from the centre although this didn't prove too problematic as trains ran throughout the night.

This hostel is like a hotel in that it is super clean and you can get what you need here but the problem is that it was really far away from the center and if you want to stay out late at night you'll have to take a taxi back.

Great hostel, very clean. A little bit out of the way of the city center but once you figure out the transport system (very confusing) it isn't too bad. Everything was very clean and well laid out. Would book again!

My friend and I decided to stay in a hostel in Amsterdam because we wanted to meet people our age. We were shocked when we got to Meininger, as it has 8 floors! It is more of a hotel than a hostel, which has it's pros and cons. Our room was very clean, and felt like a hotel room with strangers in it. Also, it feels like it is in the middle of nowhere. It is near a big transportation hub, but its 25 min by bus to the center, and 45 by bus to the airport. You can take faster trains for more money.

I booked a bed of dormitory room, they gave me a double room and arranged a guy sleep beside me, so annoyed.

the location was poor because nothing, and i mean nothing, was in walking distance. the only shop is a small one in the train station, and no restaurants. it would be very poor if the train journey to centraal was only 4 mins with regualr trains till late from the station next door. staff were brilliant and very helpful, rooms and kitchen facilities were immaculate, and having a bathroom and shower for each room was amazing. the facilities were 2nd to none.

My only complaint is that it was outside the city. However it is right beside a train station so it was good. Very clean and a hotel atmosphere

Solid hostel very clean. When I arrived late at night I found out I had to sleep on a couch bed with no sheets. Took 35 minutes to get bedding.

The staff was extraordinarily welcoming and extremely helpful. Although the location could have been closer to the city centre, it was located right off the subway for a five minute ride to Amsterdam Central Station.

The rooms were very clean, and the beds were very comfortable! You had a personal outlet to charge your items next to your bed. The bathroom facilities were in the room and very nice. The staff was accommodating and helpful when you needed them. The cafe downstairs was big and had plenty of outlets, but found it hard to meet people as a solo traveler. It is less than one minute from the train station and was super convenient to commute into city center.
