Hostelworld says:

Travellers looking to experience the unique atmosphere of Granada would do well to start at Makuto Backpackers Hostel. This friendly, laid-back hostel in the Albayzín features an outdoor terrace with a bar and a treehouse as well as comfy lounge areas with hammocks, cushions and guitars. One Hostelworld guest told us, 'after trying two other highly rated hostels in the city I much preferred sitting in the tree house in the sun'. They also serve budget-friendly home-cooked dinners. We like their free evening walking tours of the Albayzín and Sacromonte.

I think what makes us really special is that we pay a lot of attention to our common areas since we think this is what a hostel is all about. That's why we have three main outdoor areas - a patio and cosy bar to meet your fellow travellers in; Mexican hammocks for relaxing in; and a superb tree house for hanging out or catching a bit of sun. Plus we've got a chill-out area with a tree inside, a big BBQ close to the kitchen and tons more. We've really run away from the modern, impersonal set-up of some other hostels. For instance, it's free to use our shower, internet and kitchen after check-out if needed!
We're in a superb location in the Albaicin. It feels like a village in the middle of a city because 90% of the streets in our neighbourhood are cobblestone and pedestrian, with white facades, nice little squares, labyrinthine streets and cute houses. I always recommend that guests visit the Daral Horra Palace (where Boabdil's mother lived) and Bañuelo (Arab baths from XI century).
I think generally our hostel is suited for backpackers between 20 and 30 years old, but it really depends on guest's spirit, open mind and feeling. We have had older guests that loved Makuto because they said it has the essence of a hostel and loved common areas and younger ones whose parents have sent us presents after their stay as thanks for making them feel so comfortable.

If your in Granada and want a chill place with tasty prepared food this is the place for you. The staff are all super friendly and welcoming. I was there over my birthday and we had to wait to catch an overnight train that night and they let us store our bags and shower before we left and hang out it was so nice. They are a little tricky to locate so just remember the buildlings nearby but it's easy to walk to get a bus to the Alhambra. Wonderful place to stay, plus hammocks and a treehouse!

Best. Hostel. Ever. I have been travelling around Spain for a few weeks and this was BY FAR the best hostel I stayed at. The staff was absolutely incredible, the location was superb - it was just an amazing experience. I only stayed two days but I wish I'd stayed longer. I was travelling alone, but the way the hostel is set up, it's so easy to meet people. By the end of my stay, I felt like family. There were home cooked meals every night, free walking tours, and free wifi. Recommended. 100%.
