Nagomi Ryokan was Our best hostel experience in the Whole of Japan! It was super-clean, the rooms were neat, the staff super-friendly and helpful, and knew pretty good English. They even have some onsen-action going on there, so make sure to get a good soak after all your shrine- and temple-viewing. The Ryokan is just a short walk from Kyoto station and is easily accessed by this towns excellent bus-network. This is a VERY good option for experiencing Kyoto!

We can feel the Japan atmosphere when stayed there for 5 days but I found the building it self is not quite comfortable and convenient. The toilet facilities and rooms are scattered around different corner of the building and those people has to walk passed other rooms just to reach it. Besides, room is too small and no privacy because can hear people walking, talking and laughing. The worst is can hear washing machine operating sound from second floor room.

We took the bus and found the hostel very easily. We then realized how close we were to Kyoto Station, and many other temples - very central. The room was clean, traditional, and more than comfortable. The real credit really goes to the staff - welcoming, accommodating, and they even surprised us with bottles of wine and a card to celebrate a special occasion. Very unexpected and warm. I recommend this place more than any other I stayed in during my two weeks in Japan!

Great hostel, tucked away on a lane among mainly small residences and workshops. Short walk to Kyoto station and easily walkable to Kawaramachi-dōri (although far enough away so it's not that busy or noisy). Facilities in the room were good, nice to have private bathroom. The Japanese breakfast was delicious and great value! My only issue was the size of our room: I'm convinced we (2 people) were given a 1 person room as there was not enough space for 2 rolled out futons and unpacked suitcases

We were really intrigued by this place, as it had that lovely traditional appeal. The rooms were very cute, however, the common space was not very inviting and the staff could have been a bit more helpful in terms of suggestions for eating out - as we struggled to find nice bars/restaurants nearby.

I thought the place was really cute and full of character. Though the room we stayed in was very tiny for two people, we still found that it was very clean and organized. The baths, toilets, kitchen and eating areas were of really good standard for the price we paid. Overall, me and my boyfriend enjoyed our stay and wish to come back again if we ever visit Kyoto.

Despite some initial confusion over our room assignment and the fact we were then transferred over to the neighboring Ikoi no Ie, the room, while simple, was comfortable and clean and the service excellent.

Staff made you feel unwelcome and just the building didn't feel very safe with only one fire escape. The stairs up to the room were very narrow so very difficult to get large suitcases up and down.

Me and a friend stayed at this Ryokan for 2 nights, the staff was friendly and we felt we experienced a traditional Japanese stay. With close by restaurants, public bath and Kyoto Station it was very convienent. Also we got to wear yukata and sleep on futon :)

Thank you for your compliment. It’s not real move-in though, on our new traditional town house rental service we have started lately, you can use it only on your own. So you must feel like you are at home and living here, in Kyoto. For detail, please ask us.

The hostel has a wonderful traditional feel to it, although that does come hand-in-hand with small rooms and low ceilings. They do a good job keeping both the rooms and public areas very clean. The staff are friendly and speak English well. Overall I can strongly recommend this hostel to travelers who are budget conscious, or simply looking for a more personal experience in Kyoto.
