Ryokan style hostel in old part of Kyoto. Nice wooden, traditional japanese house.

Good location and extremely friendly staff (like pretty much all japanese people though to be fair). Bit dear and small room/showers but the character and staff makes it a great genuine Jap experience not to be missed.

Ryokan was beautiful, food was great. The room was extremely cold! Tap water was only luke-warm. For the price, I would expect the room to be warmer, the heater did not do much, and we slept quite poorly due to the low temperature. Other than that, the inn was great: very helpful staff, and nice that we could rent a bike!

Very friendly staff and can communicate well in English. Is about 15-20 minutes walk from Kyoto station, so try to take bus(50) to reach there, if you have big luggage. The Ryokan has all the facilities, inclusive of washing machine(200 yen) and dryer(100 yen). You can purchase the day pass (subway and bus) from the counter as well!. We brought bread and cheese to make our own breakfast! No charge using the toaster and fridge.

I prefer staying in Ryokan types of accommodation as supposed to hotels or other hostels. This hostel is well maintained, staff spoke fluent English and this is located in a great location.

Fantastic service everyone was lovely. Great atmosphere with everyone in Kimono, such a pretty place. Neat, clean and tidy. The futons may have been a little thin for some westerners but I liked them firm. The yukata to wear in the hostel before bed was a nice touch. The breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious, well worth the cost to get up an go enjoy the culture that is Kyoto. Thank you for a great stay!!!

Had a lovely time in this hostel, and for the price this was one of the best places we stayed in during our trip to Japan. Very clean and quaint.

Nothing was wrong here, very clean, great room, excellent staff, beautiful building. But somehow not quite what I expected. Reception with lots of stickers, notices and stuff takes away the calm ryokan feeling of the rest of the place - felt a bit backpacker-ized. Need to pay for things that are free at all other places I stayed. Still a nice stay though.

Had a great stay here just before New Year. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even helping us book an appointment to dress as Maikos elsewhere in the city. The hostel was clean and beautifully presented and the breakfast was good value with Japanese and Western options. I would definitely recommend this hostel.

Thought the whole hostel was amazing for the price we've paid. They are even delivery services now that is quite rare. Really glad I chose this hostel. The only thing was our room's toilet was really small. Yeah I know most toilets in Japan are but still.. Anyways, excellent place !
