Although this hostel is located in Chungking Mansions, which is a so-so location, entering this hostel was like entering a different world. Run by a kindly elderly Chinese couple, the rooms - though small - are kept fastidiously clean, with clean sheets and towels being provided daily if required. It is also very quiet and appeared quite safe. We had no problems at all and enjoyed our stay. All in all, New Peking Guest House delivers top value for your money if you're traveling on a budget.

The main strength is the price, Peter (owner), and central location. Peter is genuinely kind and made me feel at home immediately. You can't beat the price for central Hong Kong near a subway/MRT station. Please understand that guest houses are not hotels regarding amenities (extremely basic, not fancy, and tiny room). Please bring your own pillowcase and sheet to cover the bed because there were stains on mine.

even thouth not a perfectly-equipped hostel, however, very proximate to one of the central tubes of HK making it easily accessible to literally everywhere.

Everything great except the room was very small

It is near the metro station, and 5 minutes walk to Victoria Harbor. Though it may take a long time to wait for elevator, the environment is good enough for the price. Clean and tidy rooms with tv, air-con, fan and washing room (though small, but already much bigger than many hostels in Hong Kong) and a big window there in the double rooms. Want to note that the air-con may by a little noisy, but still good. Also, the staff there are really friendly and supportive with any questions/issues.

best and convenient location. hot water. clean rooms. peter ng is attentive and helpful.winnie the pinay helper keeps the place spotless. on the downside, one night we came back late and found so many drunks in the vicinity. quite scary. the queue for the elevator can be long too.

I have stayed in many hostels at the Chung King Mansion and this is my third time staying at this hostel. It's better than the others I have stayed at.

Small, but clean rooms, friendly staff, location at the heart of Kowloon. I will come back!
