Great place to stay. I love the design of the dorms; privacy for dorm price.

Great hostel. Chilled out music and nice staff. Only negative would be for the communal area to be bigger so its easier to meet people.

my favourite hostel so far, its dorm but actually we have private space of our own, as they put a curtain on each bed, and 2 ac in 1 dorm, big breakfast, nice people

the lack of functioning wifi was very disappointing given it is featured in the marketing, and staff don't seem to admit that this was the case. Having stayed at the sister hostel in KL; the Penang premises came-up short in every way. The staff did not have the same air of professionalism, or english skills. the female dorm was small, with noisy windows to the street. the security was less tight and there was quite a walk to the shared toilets. breakfast was good though!

You can't beat the location of the Reggae, but it's hardly the same as its KL counterpart. The staff is still very friendly, the rooms are still good, and the security and everything feels great, but the crowd is a little more different, and the place is decidedly less spacious. I think they've tried a little hard to recreate that KL Reggae vibe and the rooftop bar that comes with it, and this can hardly compare. Still a good place though!

Reggae Mansion is racist towards muslims. They canceled my booking and said because they were over booked. The sad thing is that they don't try to hide it.

I was very impressed with the Reggae, definitely one of the cleanest hostels I have ever been to. However, it holds true to its name of being a party hostel. I don't recommend staying here if you have to be up at 6am, as I'm pretty sure the bass of the music outside was rattling my bed. Nonetheless, I was super comfortable at the Reggae, if it weren't for the music, I would have slept like a baby!

A well located and modern hostel with comfortable rooms and downstairs bar. The one big drawback was the staff, who were not only completely indifferent to the guests, but seemed to have zero idea about the local / island hotspots - either that, or they just did not want to pass the information on.

Loved the beds the most! Lots of privacy within a shared room. Wish there were more bathrooms though but that can't really be changed. Charlie was awesome and super helpful and friendly. Made us all feel welcome and at home so that was appreciated. Check-in was painfully slow. Perhaps more computers would be helpful as there are currently only 2. Music can be loud, which is to be expected for a party hostel. Though it's not quite a PARTY hostel (Ppl chill in the bar area rather than get drunk.)

Lady on reception doesn't speak much English but the rest of the staff are great. Great place to party or chill out and watch a DVD. Free Internet is good and in a great location. More than I normally pay for a hostel but well worth it.

The owners were not the friendliest or most pleasant. In fact one was particularly rude and waved me off when asked if I could exchange my book for another. However, there was a much older uncle there who was extremely helpful and even made sure I received a message my friends had left for me when they dropped by the hostel. They should work on their customer service.

A fabulous hostel. There is such a great party vibe. The 4-person mixed dorms are innovative--you get your own little medicine cabinet. They have plenty of staff who are dedicated to giving you directions, cleaning up, and escorting you to your room. The front desk staff lady and gentleman are very professional, but not curt. They are building another branch nearby called Reggae Mansion and it looks boss. My only regret is that I had such a short time there so I couldn’t really party!

I had booked and paid ta deposit. I checked in, and all was fine. I returned to pay and the receptionist told me that I had to move as someone had 'booked before me'. As a woman traveling alone I was quite unsettled by this. They moved me to another building at the back, into a tiny room with a single rickety bunk and a fan. At first I was alone but then a male was moved into the room. Luckily he was a sweet guy and I didn't mind paying 10MR less! The situation was unprofessional though.

Free breakfast is horrible (raw eggs and I found twice hair in it!), wifi is not working, the facilities are not good, the sprung mattresses are painful, and the main issue we had were MICE! The staff didn't take the issue seriously and laughed when people complained. HORRIBLE PLACE

I loved this place. The atmosphere is really nice. The food is great. And the pods are amazing. They do have a mice problem though and there solution was cardboard covered in peanut butter. Other than this, Loved It!

Good, clean, good location and easy to find. The dorms are comfortable, and so are the communal areas. The wifi didn't work on our first night which was a pain, however we asked reception the next day and they sorted it out. I would stay again for sure.
