Very nice place especially backside of the hostel; garden. Helpfull staff, good location and easy to find with basic city map. Rooms' door did't have locks but it won't matter; there were doorcode for the main door. Good kitchen with lots of vessels such as bowls and pans for making own food. Radiators did't work perfectly, but you can ask for more blankets. Traffic noise was a little annoying, because there was congested street nearby.

A group of Portuguese men (who were aged in their late twenties and upwards) were staying, they didn't show any respect for the other people in the hostel. There's a lounge area downstairs but they were around the bedroom areas shouting and laughing til all hours of the morning. A girl from my bedroom asked them twice to keep it down but they just carried on. Also no locks on bedroom doors and the bathroom locks are faulty - the door was nearly pulled off it's hinges while I was using it.

This is a good well managed hostel. Its about 20 minute walk from train station but otherwise its close to the main attraction, the cathedral of St James. Small grocery store about 5 -10 minutes from hostel

The hostel was really clean and the location was really good. It also has a garden which is amazing for enjoying the sun :) The only problem was that you could not lock the rooms, so you have to take all the valuable stuff with you.

A cheap and good way to spend your time in Santiago. The hostel has all you need for everyday life and you easily get to know people and on top of that it's located perfectly near the cathedral, the historic centre of the city and a beautiful park where you can spend your time on a sunny day.

The hostel is a great place to stay, but we have to say that we werent pleased with the noise from the other rooms in the morning. We were in the hostel at the same time as a big group of scouts and no one botheres to tell them to be quite in the morning and they spent almost two hours running in the corridors, talking really loud, and slashing doors, stopping everyone else from sleeping. If it wasnt for that I would say the hostel was excellent.

In winter there can be really cold, since they don't use heating during the days. But otherwise - great hostel!

I thought the hostel was ok. It was obviously cheaper then other hostels in the city. Which is nice but you got what you paid for. I think the computers should be free of use. The kitchen had no dishes to use. Mostly broken or simply not available. I'd feel more comfortable with locks on the dorm room doors. Thanks! I did enjoy my stay, these are just ideas!

It is a good hostel but need to do something about the tiny bathrooms and the long wating for the breakfast. Also change the directions to the hostel as they only tell you how to get there from the cathedral!

Very nice that there is own garden where is possible to make a barbecue. Unfortunatelly we didn't make it because we have only a little time for seeing views of city. I dont know how about swimingpool, does it work in summertime, but idea is very nice!)

Really nice hostel, well situated and the rooms were comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However as mentioned in other reviews there seems to be a serious problem with bedbugs, I myself didn´t see any but my brother found one on his book one morning and now a few days after having stayed there I am still finding bites on my arms. It´s a real shame as it really is a great hostel, but they really need to address this issue as it appears to have been continuing for some time.

The staff was incredible! Genuine and lovely people. The atmosphere was also very enjoyable - lots of fun guests, all up to cook together and share what they have. Building is quite old - some of the bathrooms upstairs could use a remodel - and the walls are pretty thin, but it's about as clean as they can get it in such an old spot. If you're not expecting luxury accommodations, Roots and Boots is just perfect!
