The sinks were in a corridor that was open towards the side and quite cold.

The inn was traditional and has a really nice Japanese atmosphere. The location is the best, right opposite the famous Higashi Hongan-ji, about 500m from Kyoto Station which is not a long walk. There are bus stops nearby which is very convenient, because in Kyoto subway and train are not as flexible as buses. The inn is on the Karasuma Street which is like the main North-South street in Kyoto, and there are easy access to taxis. There's even a bicycle rental shop nearby!

Cheerful patrons, rooms were fine, location very convenient - only 6 mins to Kyoto station and close lots of eating and shopping places. Worst part was bathroom/toilet facilities. Cpompared to other places they were tiny and toilets/ male/female linked and smelly. If you can overlook that it was OK!

This is a great place to go to to experience how a traditional Ryokan is. The staff is very helpful, and you'll make it perfectly fine with some simple english words and sentences and gestures. They are not perfect in english, but it really doesn't matter. If you want the internet you need to use their computer at the counter. The downside is that both the computer and the internet line is slow, so it'll take some time to load. Otherwise an easy place to reccomend.

Caring host and his family who communicate in English and make sure you feel at home. In my case they went out of their way to get ticket information for a Noh play I wanted to see. I enthusiastically recommend this Ryokan.
