This hostel did the job- it was a bed that I could sleep in. Everything was new and nice, but it was not social and kind of sterile.

Very solid hostel. Stayed their during the fringe so it was rather busy. Staff were very helpful, facilities were perfectly adequate. The only thing is that the room I was in on the fourth floor was boiling hot. Partially due to the windows not opening all the way and the attached shower letting in steam. However, when I woke up at 5 am because of the sweltering heat I went downstairs and asked if something could be done -- the front desk person found a big box fan to bring in the room.

Staff lovely, guests keep to themselves though so not friendliest atmosphere I've experienced. Could do with more hooks in toilet and shower cubicles. Otherwise facilities good. Also more explanation to older people ike me as to how lockers work - didnt realise I had access to room locker once checked in and paid for 24 hour locker in chill room. Wasn't obvious to a fkrst timer like me!

Hostelworld says

St Christopher's Edinburgh is very highly rated here on Hostelworld for its location, and no wonder - it's just off the Royal Mile and across the road from Waverly Train station, making it ideal for those coming to Edinburgh by train from London and elsewhere in Scotland and Northern England. This hostel has friendly staff and bright, clean rooms with under-bed lockers; there's also a popular bar underneath with discounts for residents on food and drink.
