We had a very pleasant stay at the Ryokan. The staff was extremely hepful and the facilities were very clean. It's near some great temples and sights, and communications are great as it's near Kyoto station. It makes you travel in time and lay back while having your afternoon tea.

This hotel was very close to the entrance of Nishi Honganji temple and thus in easy walking distance to and from Kyoto station. That being said, you are quite far from popular places to visit such as Gion, though it was easy enough to get a city bus bus pass for the day (500 yen). Depending who was on the front desk at the hotel, it was easy to get directions and info. One of the female staff had good english while the other seemed to be new and panicked. As a whole it was a good place to stay.

The map provided on the ryokan's website isn't very accurate, so it's best to plan your walk from the train station in advance. (It's further than the map makes it seem.) The ryokan is rather noisy in the morning. It's located on a major street near a popular temple, so traffic noise and tourist groups get loud after sunrise. The walls are also quite thin, so it's easy to hear your neighbors moving around. Bring earplugs if you're a light or medium sleeper.

A nice introduction to a more traditional japanese stay.

Close to Kyoto Train Station. Restaurents etc nearby. Clean og friendly staff. Staff helped us rent bikes in order to visit temples around Kyoto. WIFI in lobby only was very slow or not working. Overall, good value for money if you need an affordable base for exploring Kyoto.
