We would never book this hostel ever again. The staff were excellent and tried their best in very difficult circumstances. The hostel had been moved and was now using a disused derelict infested hotel overlooking a rubbish dump. The rooms were filthy as you would expect if you had relocated to a disused building. The hostel is impossible to locate unless you have prebooked a taxi which we had. There were pet cats at reception, which made sense once we had seen the rat droppings in room.

A good hostel with a great atmosphere and in close proximity to everything worth seeing in Chongqing. Good knowledge of the area and ability to communicate complex streets in a way we could understand and navigate.

An enjoyable hostel to stay in. Relaxed atmosphere in the lounge/restaurant (though the jazz music was not always my cup of tea) and reasonable food. The room could use some repairs since some things were broken but the decorations in the room were tastefully done. The staff is very nice and even offered me free dumplings (jiaozi) on Saturday evening (unfortunately I had already eaten).

It's not a bad hostel and the staff is good. But the toilets definitely need some cleaning!!

I was really happy with this hostel. The staff was nice and the place had a good bar area. I think the location is good, considering no location in Chongqing is that ideal. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the subway (very hilly trek, get ready to hit some stairs) and right on the river. Good dorm. My only complaints: a few of the showers were out of order when I was there (a problem if it is busy) and the Dazu tour was a bust due to a crappy tour guide (not really the hostels fault though).

I don't like location of hostel, it is not comfortable, but near Chaotianmen Dock. This hostel room (double room with private ensuite) is small.

We had a pleasant stay at the Yangtze River International Youth Hostel and would stay there again, given the chance. The staff were very helpful and the facilities in our private room more than met our needs.

Don't be turned off by the nearby construction works and dusty surroundings, behind the Ming-style facade lies a big, comfortable and well maintained hostel with extremely friendly and helpful staff.

As we arrived during mid of March 2013, there were still some constructions on the way walking to the Hostel and it was dusty and also a lil bit up-and-down hills (good for those who don't carry much of stuff) anyway, really hope that next time we go to Chongqing, the construction will be finished 'cos we definitely going to stay here again next time, apart from the mentioned obstacle constructions, other things are great, the staff was super nice and helpful! and the place is worth for $$$

The Hostel itself is lovely- great place to start a Yangtze river cruise and they help you organise it, onward train tickets and all. Its lengthy to get to from the train station via the bus as described as it takes up to an hour in traffic but if youre planning a boat cruise down the river to your next destination, its the most practical place to stay. They could do with a little more lighting in the stairways, thats all

Convenient, because 10-15min walk ( uphill) to downtown ( clock tower) and Hongyadong (restaurants at the river). Unfortuntunately there are building a bridge right above the hostel. It can get quite noisy during the construction work. Hostel provided us ear plugs.

Nice friendly hostel with helpful staff and good facilities. Curtains around dorm beds were nice and there was a book swap and mini cinema. Good atmosphere and reasnable location, though Chongqing has a lot of stairs!

I don't think I could have asked for friendlier more helpful staff. The girls were fantastic and helped me with all I asked about when planning my route up to leshan and mt emei. Also, after arriving early and having to spent the first couple of hours sleeping on a couch, i woke to find someone had put a duvet over me. Amazing! A really clean hostel too with good wifi. An easy walk to the dock but a bit of a climb up to the main city centre is the only thing that let this place down a bit

Good review, mixed experience. CQ is a really dirty city due to the construction, but the hostel's doing their best to work around it. Staff were apologetic when a drunk dormmate vomited on the floor in our room. Good staff, but the guests were predominantly obnoxious westerners, as opposed to majority Chinese tourists which is what I experience in other cities/hostels throughout China (and frankly that's what I prefer). Depends what you want. I really appreciated pickup at the train Stn, thx!
