First off all a huge thanks to the manager Bob who helped us with evrything we needed from Train tickets to where to go a do in Pingyao. Location: its located on one of the main streets so every thing is moments away from you, u can walk from side to side of town in about 30min so u dont need a texi or something. Staff: Not all of them know good english but still they try to help you every time you need something. I can write alot about this hotel, but it was one of best stays we had!

The free pick ups and drop offs make your arrival into a new city very convienent .The food could be a little better I ordered fruit salad expecting different fresh fruit and got apple only with what tasted like mayonaise. The best bit though was The Owner. He was extremely friendly and helpful and went out of his way to look after us. He definately made us feel welcome and genuinely goes out of his way to make sure you have a pleasant stay. Would highly recommend. Richie and Ali

A really lovely place to stay. The room was serviced each day, the courtyard was stunning and the staff were really helpful and friendly, especially the manager. It's really close to everything. We had a great time here.

The female staff who said she could speak english but apparently couldn't was incredibly unfriendly. And the bathroom was disgusting. The room was also dirty, it seems that they don't clean the room.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in in china. The owner was exceptionally helpful and threw in several freebies like a free room upgrade and transport to the station - lovely guy with very good English too. The hostel is in an excellent location right in the heart of the old city and has a beautiful courtyard.

Very nice room, and the hostel itself is very beautiful. The owner is oke, but the rest of the staff is a bit challenging to communicate with. Allthough we liked Pingyao you really need the 150 yuan ticket, the rest is not interesting at all. And dont stay longer than 2 days.

Beautiful, spotless room in a gorgeous little courtyard. Couldn't have asked for better. the manager Bob is a gentleman and made us feel very welcome. The only downer on this place is that some of the staff are a little grumpy and can come across as rude. This wouldn't stop us staying again, really recommend this place.

+ Nice rooms, good location and cool old building like the rest of the "ancient city of Pingyao", nice with free pick up/drop off. Bob the owner is very nice. - The staff barely knew any english and unless Bob was there i didn't feel like they really tried to help us.

Pros were the pick-up and drop-off from/to the train station, the really nice courtyard and the helpful boss, Bob. Cons are that the rest of the staff doesn't speak English which makes things a bit difficult at times. It did seem nicer and more Chinese than some of the other places.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially Bob, the owner! The courtyard was beautiful, you could sit here and enjoy your breakfast etc. The room was very spacious, the bed was huge! It looked like a 3- persons bed! The central location in the old center of Pingyao topped it off. Great stay.

This is a chance to stay in a traditional courtyard building, where things are kept reasonably true to the period. Of, course the modern plumbing and heating are an advantage. Great location and reasonably priced restaurant with a good range of foods. Staff are helpful, especially Bob, the boss, who purchased rail tickets and arranged cars for us. Thanks, Bob. A Traditional courtyard building in the heart of pingyao, making access to any of the attractions very easy. Staff speak minimal (if any) english, except the manager Bob, who is a very kind and friendly man. I found the room clean, with everything I required. Some of the facilities need some work; poor showers and no lock on the toilet door. The bar was also never busy, so socially not great. However a low price and Bob was very accomodating with changes to my plans and giving advice.

Great Hostel, would thoroughly recommend it. I stayed in a one bedroom en suite room off the courtyard, room was clean and had crisp white sheets. The western breakfasts were great and they also served chinese breakfasts. The staff were all enormously helpful and the manager was super helpful and spoke fantastic English. Will definitely return!!

The toilet smells and we asked for a change in room. However this does not solve the problem as the toilet in the other room smeels as badly. I think they have a problem with the sewage system. Overall, the place is fine and quite unique and authentic old chinese charm. Very centrally located; this will be a great place if they fixed the toilets.

An old courtyard style building very central to attractions in Pingyao. Absolutely freezing in winter, but so was everything in the city. Bob the manager was very helpful and even with only a couple of guests in the hostel during cold winter days was usually around.
