Clean and comfortable place with a huge common room, friendly staff and lots of suggestions for things to do in Dublin. Very safe; you have to be buzzed into the building and then need a swipe card to get into the rooms as well. Looks a bit dodgy from the outside but once you get in the doors it’s completely different. Lockable cages under ever bed and lockers in common area. Fantastic location, walking distance to almost everything. Highly recommend the pub crawl :)

It was great staying at Abigail's again for the first time since 2019. I would however suggest to provide people with fans during summer as the room was very much like an oven. In the recent heatwave this was even more amplified. This is a great spot and the double bed in the three bed dorm was incredibly comfortable.

The hostel is very clean and with a nice atmosphere. The staff is kind and helpful. The position is in the city center very close to the Temple Bar. The only "disadvantage" is the very small private bathroom and the absence of others bathroom.

    Very Good

    22 Jul 2022
Abigails is a solidly good backpacker hostel. The best part is the location: right in the Temple Bar area so tons of pubs, restaurants, etc. within a short walk, and connected to public transport. It's not on the main pub street so not TOO loud, however the rooms face a busy street for buses so if you are a light sleeper, it may not be the place for you. Facilities were about average, but nothing special (no bar or breakfast) so there wasn't any social vibe, but fine for a place to sleep.

It has become a money machine instead of what hostels once were meant for. Been in many hostels in younger times, now, at 48, I see the difference between a meeting point of wandering travellers with a small budget and an overprized cash cow

Although located very close to Temple Bar, I was filled with anxiety when walking into the hostel. It looked sketchy and dirty. Got to my room, there were no privacy curtains on the bed, we had to MAKE our own beds (and undo them as well) and there was gum on the bedpost as well as a nail clipping on my mattress. Washrooms were clean. It was extremely pricey for what we got. There were no tours or events that ran directly from the hostel.

Management lacked organization and did not keep track of bookings. We booked two rooms in a dorm and only one was available when we arrived because beds were not numbered or assigned and the only way that they kept track of check out was if the sheets had been removed from the bed. When we asked management for help, they were not proactive in finding a solution. When we were finally moved, there was a male assigned to our all female dorm. Overall, a very stressful experience.

Abigails Hostel says

I think we've got an unbeatable location in Temple Bar, overlooking the Liffey. This is a converted hotel, so families and older guests feel at home, too. Plus we've got a bright, open-plan communal area-great for socialising, web surfing, watching movies… For fun we have a free walking tour every morning and a pub crawl from the hostel every evening. We're quite close to Trinity College and Dublin Castle, but my favourite place to recommend is the Guinness Brewery. Lynda, General Manager
