We love this Hostel!

It gets our thumbs up for consistently high guest reviews.

Hostelworld says

Cocomama was voted the best in the Netherlands at the 2011 Hoscars and it's not hard to see why-guests have said this boutique hostel is 'the opposite to the big corporate hostels that lack character', with clean, newly furnished rooms 'done up to the small detail'. Hostelworld reviewers tell us the staff 'love their city [and] will give you all the info you need on where to go', making this hostel feel 'like a home away from home'. We particularly like the resident cat and the large back garden.

Property Description

Cocomama offers the best of both worlds in a super central location in Amsterdam. The luxury and comfort of a hotel and the atmosphere (and budget) of a hostel.

The rooms are all Holland themed and range from private doubles to 6-bed dorms (and everything in between). You might share a bathroom in some the dorms, but those luxurious mattresses and feather duvets are everywhere.

Even more importantly, at MAMA, you're not on your own. Travel stories are shared, as is the dinner table. It’s a place where you’ll make friends and hang out with other international trotters alike in the private garden or common room, or perhaps cook dinner in the fully-equipped kitchen (perfect to keep costs down). And if that doesn’t keep you busy enough, the staff organise tonnes of activities including movie nights, drink nights, games nights and family dinners!

Please read our T&Cs below before booking, so there are no surprises! View House Rules

Cosy, friendly and cool with a super comfy bed and smart bathroom - great shower for the top floor too! I stayed in a double private room, Cocomama is a little haven of homeliness. Great communal space, kitchen area and garden with super friendly and helpful staff, and located just far enough out from the thick of it to be peaceful, but on all the trams lines and only 20 mins walk into the action. I was there during ADE week and it was in the middle of all the venues - perfect!

The bed was super comfy, I liked how laidback the vibe was. The location was right next to a tram which was super con isn’t, while still being walkable from most of the city.

We stayed one night here in the Forrest Room. Clean and cute. Staff were helpful and friendly. Tbey showed us arojnd tbe communal areas (where there is free tea and coffee and a gorgeous cat) and then to our room. It was a little noisy during the evening, but its a hostel and i didnt exoect any different. Mattress wasnt the best, but ok for one night. Overall a good place to stay.

I loved my stay even if it was just for one night. The staff guys were super chill, the pancakes were great and the cat was as grumpy as it was fluffy

I had a great time staying at CocoMama! The staff are so friendly and helpful and it is situated within a short walk of the Centre. The common room vibe was so relaxed and really gave an opportunity to meet new people and chat. Also, there was a really cute cat! Would definitely recommend and return here if I came back!

A friend of mine who lives locally recommended Cocomama to me. I think it's a cool place! The hostel staff very kindly resolved the issue of me being charged twice for a booking, and I'm very satisfied overall!

Very good location and across the road from a tram station. Beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly. Cleanliness could have been better but that was the only downfall of the stay.

Pictures do not correspond to reality. The main vestibule is shabby and dilapidated. Our sheets and towels were dirty and stained!!! The air in the room was of bad quality. The staff was amiable, courteous and polite, though.

Cocomama says

What puts us ahead of the rest is our many little extras, like cheap bike rental, private hostel boat tours, our cuddly hostel cat Joop and the free pasta, rice, oil, spices and coffee/tea in the kitchen! For fun our guests join in on one of our many activities, like Tight Ass Tuesday (beer and pasta for â'¬3), movie night, the booze cruise, Nintento NES battles and more. Our hostel is run and owned by young, energetic ladies with outstanding local knowledge of Amsterdam. We especially recommend that people go biking or boating through Amsterdam - it gives you a total different and local view of the city.
We're also close to Albert Cuyp Market (two minutes' walk), the Heineken Brewery (five minutes' walk), Museum Square (5-10 minutes' walk) and the bars, restaurants and clubs of Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein (10 minutes' walk). Anika, Owner/Manager
