We love this Hostel!

It gets our thumbs up for consistently high guest reviews.

Hostelworld says

Cocomama was voted the best in the Netherlands at the 2011 Hoscars and it's not hard to see why-guests have said this boutique hostel is 'the opposite to the big corporate hostels that lack character', with clean, newly furnished rooms 'done up to the small detail'. Hostelworld reviewers tell us the staff 'love their city [and] will give you all the info you need on where to go', making this hostel feel 'like a home away from home'. We particularly like the resident cat and the large back garden.

Property Description

Cocomama offers the best of both worlds in a super central location in Amsterdam. The luxury and comfort of a hotel and the atmosphere (and budget) of a hostel.

The rooms are all Holland themed and range from private doubles to 6-bed dorms (and everything in between). You might share a bathroom in some the dorms, but those luxurious mattresses and feather duvets are everywhere.

Even more importantly, at MAMA, you're not on your own. Travel stories are shared, as is the dinner table. It’s a place where you’ll make friends and hang out with other international trotters alike in the private garden or common room, or perhaps cook dinner in the fully-equipped kitchen (perfect to keep costs down). And if that doesn’t keep you busy enough, the staff organise tonnes of activities including movie nights, drink nights, games nights and family dinners!

Please read our T&Cs below before booking, so there are no surprises! View House Rules

WHAT A VIBE!!This hostel strikes the perfect balance between social atmosphere and a quiet place if you prefer to be by yourself. With free breakfast, nightly events, exceptionally clean facilities, the comfiest mattresses, a backyard, A CAT, and a well stocked kitchen this is a must stay. The staff are all incredible with a special shoutout to Sophia for being so wonderful and welcoming. Cococmama deserves nothing less than a 10/10. I can't wait to return to Amsterdam just to stay at Cocomama.

Excellent hostel with friendly helpful staff. 6 bed dorm had individual powerplugs and lights. Bathroom fan did not work but facilities were clean. Lovely open plan kitchen and lounge area to relax in- easy to make friends or chat to live-in staff. Free breakfast in the morning. Smoke friendly but not a party hostel, so quiet enough to get a good sleep. About 25 mins walk to the very centre or 15 mins on metro. We loved our stay here and would recommend (and we'll probably be back)! 🙂😸

    Very Good

The hostel was OK, smelling weed everywhere (Typical of Amsterdam). The staffs were nice and humble. The accommodation was below average though and the security was not up to the mark. A lady bumped into our locked room in the middle of the night. That wasn't pleasant. The breakfast was not exotic but was appreciable. Best thing was the friendliness of the staff at the hostel, they were so nice to us :)

We were charged more than we booked it, so we asked to refund difference. Room is shabby compared to what is seen in the photos. No heating on the 2nd night with no other option except blankets. Heating backup should be available Poor maintenance & insulation which make the room very cold. Gaps should be sealed Noisy bedroom Joey was unprofessional bringing excuses that it is a historical building. He only gave us €16.60 refund since he felt the room was cheap in February! We paid €87 per night.

Cocomama says

What puts us ahead of the rest is our many little extras, like cheap bike rental, private hostel boat tours, our cuddly hostel cat Joop and the free pasta, rice, oil, spices and coffee/tea in the kitchen! For fun our guests join in on one of our many activities, like Tight Ass Tuesday (beer and pasta for â'¬3), movie night, the booze cruise, Nintento NES battles and more. Our hostel is run and owned by young, energetic ladies with outstanding local knowledge of Amsterdam. We especially recommend that people go biking or boating through Amsterdam - it gives you a total different and local view of the city.
We're also close to Albert Cuyp Market (two minutes' walk), the Heineken Brewery (five minutes' walk), Museum Square (5-10 minutes' walk) and the bars, restaurants and clubs of Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein (10 minutes' walk). Anika, Owner/Manager
