Property Description

We are Free Cerveza - a fun glamping hostel located right on the beautiful shores of Lake Atitlan. Our awesome lakefront property overlooks 3 of Central America’s most famous volcanoes - San Pedro, Atitlan and Toliman. You can sunbake and swim off of our private docks, take out our kayak for a little adventure, or hang out in our steamy sauna for an afternoon. We also run a bunch of fun activities and have a wide selection of games for your enjoyment. We’re basically a summer camp for adults, just with some added cerveza.

We have a bar fully stocked with all of your favourite alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverages, a full breakfast and lunch menu prepared by our gourmet Mayan chefs, and our famous family style 3 course dinner with free beer (of course!).

We offer private and shared glamps (up to 4 people), or private and shared treehouse rooms overlooking the lake and the valley. Each glamp and treehouse room are fully set up with electrical power and cozy blankets.

The owners built this property with love, using eco-friendly materials and technology such as compost toilets, recycled wood and glass bottles, and LED lighting. A true environment lover's dream!

Free Cerveza is located in Santa Cruz de la Laguna on the northern shore of Lake Atitlán, only a 10 minute boat ride from the main dock at Panajachel. You can even ask for the driver to drop you off directly on our private dock! View House Rules

Liked it so much that I came back for a second visit. Free Cerveza was a welcome surprise after several months on the road with little rest. Check in was super easy with friendly volunteers. The family dinners were well worth it at 75 Q which is comparable to places around the lake and this is three courses and extremely tasty. Would recommend the glamping tents which were super comfy and warm. A perfect place to base yourself around the lake to relax and do short trips to other towns.

Awesome place to stay if u want a chill spot to drink and meet other backpackers. The food is good and comes with 2 hours of free beer which is fun. Place is loud from 5-11 when it quiets down and most ppl chill. If you want a crazy all night party, not the place to stay. But if you want a fun atmosphere where everyone is looking to meet new people and chill, and get to sleep at a reasonable time so you can wake up for a beautiful sunrise, it’s the place for you

Free Cerveza is the place to stay if you’re looking for a fun vibe with great people, in a secluded area on the Lake. If you’re looking to go bar hopping or explore different restaurants at night, this isn’t the place. But you won’t need to find a restaurant because the food at Free Cerveza is amazing and everyone eats together, which creates a fun family-like atmosphere.

Great value for money. Family style dinners are fun and perfect way to meet people. Easy to get around the lake from the private dock and great place to party at night. If you prefer more chill social atmosphere it is just as good as bar closes by 11 and little noise travels back to the tents.

Lovely place with good food and nice activities with a great view. Only minus point, a lot of my stuff disappeared (jacket got stolen, headphones disappeared and some other small things). But overall an amazing place with great staff at a beautiful location. No kitchen for those wanting to cook but family dinner with unlimited beer every nice for 8€

We had so much fun at this hostel. It's setting is beautiful right on the lake and has a great and very social atmosphere. The food is delicious however it is quite expensive and there aren't many other options nearby.

Nice hostel, toilet facilities smell foul due to their eco nature though and showers are either freezing cold or scolding hot! The dinner is really over priced and hostel isn’t near anything else so you have to pay for lots of boats to see anything

As much as the lake is stunning, and Santa Cruz peaceful, the staff was unhelpful, facilities much lower than expected and experience disappointing. The whole experience felt really cheap. The hostel really isn’t as nice as shown on Hostelworld. We even left a day earlier.
