Property Description

Free Cerveza is a fun glamping hostel located right on the beautiful shores of Lake Atitlan. Our awesome lakefront property overlooks 3 of Central America’s most famous volcanoes - San Pedro, Atitlan and Toliman.

In order to provide and maintain our summer camp vibe, each guest will be charged 33Q per night so that you can enjoy unlimited use of Free Cerveza’s activities and equipment. You can sunbathe and swim off of our private docks, enjoy unlimited use of our stand up paddle boards and tubes, take out our kayaks for a little adventure, get moving with free yoga classes, or hang out in our steamy sauna for an afternoon. We also run a bunch of fun activities including guided hikes and paddle board tours for your enjoyment. We’re basically a summer camp for adults, just with some added cervezas. And yes, wifi is included although we promise, you will find a better connection with the people and the atmosphere.

We have a bar fully stocked with all of your favourite alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverages, a full breakfast and lunch menu prepared by our gourmet Mayan chefs, and our famous family style 3 course dinner with free beer (of course!).

We offer private and shared glamps (up to 4 people), or private and shared treehouse rooms overlooking the lake and the valley. Each glamp and treehouse room is fully set up with electrical power and cozy blankets.

In a mission to protect our beautiful environment, the owners built this property with love, using eco-friendly materials and technology such as compost toilets, recycled wood and glass bottles, and LED lighting.

Free Cerveza is located in Santa Cruz la Laguna on the northern shore of Lake Atitlán, only a 10 minute boat ride from the main dock at Panajachel. You can even ask for the driver to drop you off directly on our private dock!
Valid Passport is required at Check-In. Check-in is at 2pm and check out is at 11am.
Glamping is only reserved for guests 18+ and has a fun, youthful vibe.

Reception is open from 8 AM - 9 PM.
Curfew is at 11 PM: Santa Cruz law requires us to close our common area and reduce noise by 11 PM. View House Rules

Best place to stay on the lake. Amazing staff and facilities. Nice vibe in the evening where you could let your hair down and chill in the day. Renting of equipment is such a good deal and they really do mean FREE CERVEZA for 2 hours in the evening, beer bong and all! The staff were the highlight, all eager to help and really charismatic.

From the endless activities to the welcoming and fun staff, Free Cerveza has been the highlight of my trip so far. The property feels like an oasis, with a sauna, yoga, water activities, lake-front restaurant and hangout spot, beautiful architecture, and delicious foods and drinks. Free Cerveza is a must-go if you are in Guatemala!

Great hostel - right on the lake and super sociable. The big family meals gets everyone together each evening and the free beer from 5-7pm is a nice touch! All the staff were so welcoming from the minute I got there. Would definitely recommend staying there to anyone who comes to lake atitlan! Special thanks to Jamie, Sayna and Rhiannon for everything!

Super chilled spot on lake Atitlán, great facilites on offer and even better food. Free beer time is a nice way to meet other travellers and share stories. All other towns on the lake are super easy to access via the water buses. Stayed in the dorm but if I visited again I would opt for a tent. Recommend staying here highly !

Super great vibe and nice place to stay. Lots of fun activities going on everyday. I would recommend booking a tent. The beds in the tents are way more comfy than those in the glass treehouse dorms. Dinner is a bit pricey but so delicious!

Really cool spot! Glamping vibes, amazing facilities like paddle boarding etc. Easy to get around the rest of like Atitlan from the dock or Santa Cruz dock (5 min walk away). The free beer is fun! And dinner is always delicious.

The hostel is right on the lake with SUPs and kayaks to take out. Easy to get to and from here with the water taxis. The dinner is a little overpriced for what you get, but it’s what makes the atmosphere so good, especially after a few hours of “free cerveza”. The 4 bed female dorm room was super small and the bests aren’t super comfortable but it’s a pretty amazing location and outlook to the lake, so makes it all worth it. Do recommend staying here - overall great hostel!

This is the best place to stay at Lake Atitlan! The place is beautiful and the tents are great. Lots of things you can use like kayaks and tubes and a sauna. The staff are all really friendly and want you to have fun. They have lots of organized activities like yoga and hikes. The food is great, do the family dinner with free beer from 5-7. Would definitely stay again!

Nice place, good atmosphere. However there is a price for the equipment even if you don’t use it, and even if you show up late when you check in (and clearly won’t be taking a kayak). You actually pay 33Q more each day. That means if you spend 3 days it’s an extra 15$ for things you may not want to do.

    Very Good

Overall this place is fine but the price is very expensive for a simple basic tent. The evenings are fun but if you are not planning on making use of the free beer head to the near by resturants for dinner or other meals as we found these to have a larger variety and to be cheaper. The lack of chairs and places to sit is a bit of an annoyance especially as when we were here a huge storm hit in the evening and the roof leaked massively flooding the seating areas with water.
