Property Description

Free Cerveza is a fun glamping hostel located right on the beautiful shores of Lake Atitlan. Our awesome lakefront property overlooks 3 of Central America’s most famous volcanoes - San Pedro, Atitlan and Toliman.

In order to provide and maintain our summer camp vibe, each guest will be charged 33Q per night so that you can enjoy unlimited use of Free Cerveza’s activities and equipment. You can sunbathe and swim off of our private docks, enjoy unlimited use of our stand up paddle boards and tubes, take out our kayaks for a little adventure, get moving with free yoga classes, or hang out in our steamy sauna for an afternoon. We also run a bunch of fun activities including guided hikes and paddle board tours for your enjoyment. We’re basically a summer camp for adults, just with some added cervezas. And yes, wifi is included although we promise, you will find a better connection with the people and the atmosphere.

We have a bar fully stocked with all of your favourite alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverages, a full breakfast and lunch menu prepared by our gourmet Mayan chefs, and our famous family style 3 course dinner with free beer (of course!).

We offer private and shared glamps (up to 4 people), or private and shared treehouse rooms overlooking the lake and the valley. Each glamp and treehouse room is fully set up with electrical power and cozy blankets.

In a mission to protect our beautiful environment, the owners built this property with love, using eco-friendly materials and technology such as compost toilets, recycled wood and glass bottles, and LED lighting.

Free Cerveza is located in Santa Cruz la Laguna on the northern shore of Lake Atitlán, only a 10 minute boat ride from the main dock at Panajachel. You can even ask for the driver to drop you off directly on our private dock!
Valid Passport is required at Check-In. Check-in is at 2pm and check out is at 11am.
Glamping is only reserved for guests 18+ and has a fun, youthful vibe.

Reception is open from 8 AM - 9 PM.
Curfew is at 11 PM: Santa Cruz law requires us to close our common area and reduce noise by 11 PM. View House Rules

Had a private tent and it was amazing, I loved it. Only downfall is all the hidden extra costs, kinda seemed unnecessary but was fine

Planned to stay at Free Cervesa for a couple of nights, but ended up staying for 9. I challenge you to go there and not want to stay forever. The staff, the setting, the atmosphere; everything was perfect. In fact, FC should be a blueprint for all hostels.

I've visited Free Cerveza a few times already and fall more deeply in love with it every time! Hands down the most perfect location on the lake - beautiful volcano views right outside your tent. Love the family dinners (and the 2 hours of free cerveza), there's so much to do if you feel like it (SUP, kayaking, hikes, sauna, craft beer tasting, yoga) and staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is super fun. The place has a great vibe, perfect balance between party and chill.

Booked here for 2 nights and ended up staying 5! The food is so good (recommend the nachos and the breakfast burrito) and the volunteers are fab on the bar and giving you tips on what to do while on the lake. Showers are a bit temperamental so can be freezing or boiling but that’s expected on the lake. Would deffo recommend staying here. Free kayaks and paddleboards is also amazing x

Super fun hostel with a great view of the lake. Very social atmosphere and amazing food. It was fun having access to kayaks and paddle boards. The beds are not comfortable so make sure to enjoy the free beer! Wouldn’t recommend booking a shuttle through them as the directions were unclear and ours never showed up. Overall, fun time!

Great hostel, and yes there really is free beer from 5-7 and then a family dinner at 7. The food is great, and everyone is just hanging out by the bar or down on the dock. The tents are great too! Santa Cruz is very central too so it's easy to bounce around to other towns on the lake. The partying wasnt as crazy as I had expected, which was actually nice. Depends what you're looking for. Things seemed to shut down around 11.

“Free” cervesa had a few hidden fees to pay for their “Free” beer. Had to buy the dinner To get the “free” beer which was overpriced (75Q). most equivalent meals elsewhere would be 20-30Q. There is also a 33Q fun fee, which you paid wether or not you did any activities. I’d rather have these built into the price of the dorm or tent which is still pretty reasonable . Negatives aside this is a great hostel with a beautiful view of the lake and one of the best social atmospheres I’ve seen!

The hostel is really Nicely located right at the water. They have SUPs (unfortunately only a few so there's usually a waiting list for the usage) and tubes to enjoy some time on the lake. Also there are activities twice a day, sometimes more sometimes less exciting. The 12bed dorm was mostly clean & I was lucky to get a bed with a wonderful view. I think the hostel is a bit overpriced, especially the quite high "fun fee" everyone needs to pay, no matter how many facilities you're actually using.
