Great hostel, really beautiful and right on the water. Not much to do there so would only recommend a few days. The tent in rain season gets old fast. Staff were friendly and the free beer is awesome! We signed up for sunrise paddle board at 530am to find out the staff didn’t have access to the key for the boards so it didn’t happen… a real bummer considering we were all up at 5am. You would think since this activity is run almost daily they’d have it figured out?

Felt like summer camp! Definitely for a younger crowd. This place has great value, as long as you know exactly what you’re signing up for and compare it to the price. I recommend for those who like a good atmosphere with basic and shared facilities. I stayed in a dorm tent, so I felt what I paid was great for what I got. The facilities (compost toilet, communal outdoor showers) were fine and nothing to complain about, and the worn bedding + mattress did the trick. It got too hot to stay in the tents after

I had a good time, the volunteers were great and very helpful, the people were awesome. Enjoyed using the Paddleboards and swimming in the lake. Showers were unconventional but the water pressure was good and the water was hot! Would be nice to see them sell additional snacks etc, but not a far walk to the Santa Cruz dock where that is available!

    Very Good

Free Cerveza was in a great location and good accommodations. Galla (from Israel) in particular was super friendly and attentive with great recommendations for each town. It was a mixed stay for us. We weren’t explicitly told that it is all cash only (made for a mad dash to the Santa Cruz ATM) and no outside food and drinks are allowed. However, The family dinner style is awesome and a good way to meet people. It’s not really a party hostel but quiet hours aren’t really observed either.

The food is over priced and not very good whatsoever and comes out cold. It’s exhausting sitting on the floor the entire time. The toilets are eco friendly and it’s not a great experience using them. It’s hard to sleep when it rains, and during the day the tents heat up like a sauna .The amount of paddles to paddle boards is not equal so a few ppl end up with a kayak paddle for their SUP board. Also make sure to check your bill at the end I was charged way more than what I actually ordered.
