Really nice hostel. The common area was large and felt welcoming for a solo traveler to hang out in. Literally on a spectacular hiking trail (gray route). Overall a really lovely experience. No soap in the bathroom so bring your own.

I spent one winterly night at the hostel in January 2019. Warm rooms, decent breakfast, good location for daily hiking trips around Gendalough! The hostel was very quiet since off-season. The hostel is 10min walk away from the bus stop. Make sure you bring some food for your hiking trips since the closest convenience store is about 20min away.

Wonderful location, friendly, helpful staff, amazing views of history and landscape right from the sitting room windows, lots of walking paths right outside the door. Transportation there requires planning but is very doable. Appreciated the ability to check in earlier in the day.

Very helpful and pleasant staff, lovely setting. Clean, basic room (but socksof previous guest hadn't been removed from locker!). Lovely breakfast and free taxi service to and from local gastropub (The Wicklow Heather) was a great bonus. The only real drawback were the inconsiderate guests in the neighbouring room who came in noisily around 2am and kept us all awake for over an hour. We reported them the next day but unsure what action was taken. Next time I'll check procedures in advance

The hostel is close to the national park so it's easy to hike. The closest food shop is 30 minutes away and the breakfast isn't much and costs an extra 5 EURO per meal

The location and building are great. Some of tge staff were friendly and other were not able to smile. For the price that we paid, not to have soap or any kind of shampoo it's not good enough.

Honestly worst hostel I’ve stayed in ireland. The toilet in the dorm would not flush, NO SOAP TO WASH HANDS (in corona time.... COME ON), the wifi did not reach in the room so you had to be in common areas to get it, the matress was so hard like sleeping on floor... nothing met my expectations. Also the atmosphere.... a HUGE 25 rooms place, nobody speaking to each other so not your tipical friendly hostel experience. HOWEVER, positive side is location, right next to Glendalough visitor center.
