Overview

Set downtown, HI Montréal will give you a warm, traditional Canadian welcome. Think free pancakes for breakfast, reserved hockey tickets and pub crawls. We host free daily activities so you can get involved without breaking your budget. Head out for an urban walk with other backpackers, join a bike tour or get involved with a Poutine tasting session (it's our country's speciality!). If that's got your appetite going, make straight for the communal kitchen. Want to avoid the washing up? Join the international crowd for cheap dinners, drinks and a natter in the café-bar instead.

From Montréal-Trudeau Airport, take the Express Shuttle 747, and you'll be dropped off steps from the hostel.

Nice hostel and good facilities including a bar (which is always good). It was also nice to have a bed that didn't squeek because i breathed out or turned slightly. The star of the show was Carrie. She showed me where was good to go and gave a good insight of Montreal itself. Would absolutely return if i was back in Montreal!

Wow you guys have one of the best hostels I've been to (and I've traveled loads)! Friendly, very helpful staff, amazing cozy common area, lots of activities and community events, and above and beyond value for the money for the three person two bed room we stayed in. I am so glad I chose to stay there and shout out to the girl from Ottawa at reception (I think her name was Carly?) for all of the useful information. 10/10!

As always with HI hostels, a really nice atmosphere with good facilities and friendly staff. Slight trek to the bus station though for onward travel and only a small locker in my room though. Loved visiting Montréal too an would visit again if I was in the area.

    Very Good

I had a nice stay except for staff member at breakfast. I understand it’s free breakfast but when you are sending out raw pancakes and I tell you that they are raw and you give me a look as if to say it’s free so deal with it. Yes it free I don’t expect raw pancakes I don’t know how you’re making them if you put raw eggs into your mix you could be giving me food poisoning. Not impressed!

    Good

The hostel was nice and breakfast was good. However unfortunately my room mates were quite horrible. They were partying every night and when returning to the hostel they always put all lights on, they were super noisy (even after asking to respect people who try to sleep), started to play Music even and they always brought additional guests to the room. In 6 bed dorm there was basically always at least 10 people ”sleeping”. Didn’t feel relaxed or secure.

HI Montreal says

I like to think we specialize in helping travellers get the full Montréal experience. To do so, Gab organizes free daily activities to take people off the beaten path: bike ride, urban walks, pub crawls, comedy nights and so on. They are fun and informal ways of seeing the city, plus they are perfect socializing opportunities! We also try to partner up with many local events and places we love as to encourage people to discover the best Montreal has to offer. And finally, our ultimate secret ingredient is our staff! They're great, funny, creative and helpful. We love them and you should too!
We're right downtown, close to pubs, clubs, museums and the crazy shopping street of Ste-Catherine. However, I do recommend that everyone ventures out a bit further to discover what the Plateau, the Mile-End and the Petite-Italie have to offer!
I'd say the hostel is suitable for anyone between 7 and 77, just like these good old board games! However, we tend to have a higher concentration of travellers between 18 and 35 years of age. Generally, these are backpackers, students moving to Montréal, people on working holiday visas or groups of friends from nearby places, such as Toronto or New York, coming to spend the weekend in the city.
