HI-Montréal is located just a block from Lucien-Allier metro station, with trains going straight to Old Town Montreal and the rest of downtown. This clean, comfortable hostel has been recommended by Hostelworld guests 'if you're a people person and find it interesting meeting people from different countries'. Their helpful, friendly staff have a wealth of local information and tips. We like their free pancake breakfast and free daily excursions on foot and by bike.

The hostel is placed few meters to the biggest street in the center Montreal. The team is funny and very reactive. I have a single room and it was cleaned each day. The hostel team prepares a very good breakfast each morning (a buffet) and also schedule one activity each day (visit of Mont Royal, visit of an old and authentic neighborhood of Montreal, a pub tour, etc). It was a very good experiences.

Perfect place to stay for a couple of days while you visit the city. There are free activities (bar crawling, visiting parts of the city...) organized everyday. The staff is super super nice and always willing to help. Most of the staff are young people exchanging bed for work so they know the best places in the city and how to move around.

Overall a pretty nice hostel. Renovations seem to have been on the interior as the bed was nice and firm and the room smelled of new wood placement. Lack of chairs in the room was a little bothersome though...even if the room is a bit small- chairs would’ve been nice.

Was very clean and very welcoming. Rooms were nice and modern with sockets by each bed. Breakfast was so nice, nice atmosphere to either eat alone or with others with music on and help yourself with a nice welcoming feel in general

Common rooms are cleaned daily, but people are bringing in the rooms dirty shoes from outside... forcing everyone to take their dirty shoes off before entering the rooms would make this place so much cleaner.

HI Montreal says

I like to think we specialize in helping travellers get the full Montréal experience. To do so, Gab organizes free daily activities to take people off the beaten path: bike ride, urban walks, pub crawls, comedy nights and so on. They are fun and informal ways of seeing the city, plus they are perfect socializing opportunities! We also try to partner up with many local events and places we love as to encourage people to discover the best Montreal has to offer. And finally, our ultimate secret ingredient is our staff! They're great, funny, creative and helpful. We love them and you should too!
We're right downtown, close to pubs, clubs, museums and the crazy shopping street of Ste-Catherine. However, I do recommend that everyone ventures out a bit further to discover what the Plateau, the Mile-End and the Petite-Italie have to offer!
I'd say the hostel is suitable for anyone between 7 and 77, just like these good old board games! However, we tend to have a higher concentration of travellers between 18 and 35 years of age. Generally, these are backpackers, students moving to Montréal, people on working holiday visas or groups of friends from nearby places, such as Toronto or New York, coming to spend the weekend in the city.
