Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. I liked the tatami mat style. I stayed with two other people and the room provided was spacious enough for the three of us. If I visit Kyoto again, I will likely stay here again. I did not use the bus transit system, since it looked complicated and ended up walking to and from the train stations. If there is some help/advice on using the bus transit system, that would be most appreciated. I appreciated the pamphlets for travel destinations.

Everything was really clean and the bed was supper comfortable and tidy. There are a lot of convenience stores and Daison just across the street, as well as a bus stop that leaves you right to the centre. They also have charger adaptors to lend. I overall recommend this place a lot!

The staff were incredibly humble and kind! The atmosphere was reminiscent of a traditional Japanese guesthouse complete with a miniature koi pond garden in the back. While food and drinks have to be paid for, they are still delicious nonetheless. Guesthouse Wasabi is also within walking distance of Kyoto's Imperial palace and various other historic sights. The only small issue i noticed is that the hostel and rooms are not that secured. Other than that, this was a splendid Hostel!

It’s a remodeled Japanese property, so it has all the comforts of a Western home, but with a very Japanese atmosphere! There’s even a koi pond outback. The staff are very friendly and speak excellent English and many other languages besides! It was a lovely place to stay for the weekend on a road trip break.

Everything was good about this place, though the location could be better. Have to take buses to get to the typical tourist spots. Worked fine for our day trip to Arashiyama. Free coffee and tea is always a good thing. Nice koi pond behind building. The Wasabi hostel branches were some of the best in our Japan trip.

Lovely atmosphere and fantastic staff. Several bus lines nearby that will take you wherever you might want to go in Kyoto easily. Female dorm was very cramped (like, having to walk sideways between the beds level) so not the easiest with a big suitcase. But that's honestly not a big issue and I enjoed my short stay here very much.

Good value for money, would stay here again. The only downside I could think of is you feel kind of observed when in the common area, the rest of my stay was good. Comfy bed, great showers, good location.

Really good place in Kyoto for those who want ot escape Gion and the busy centre. It is located is a quiet neighborhood and not too far from Nijo Castle and the Imperial palace. There is a really convenient supermarket pretty much in front and several sentos (public baths) around. The building is super nice and clean. The small garden and common rooms are lovely. Was just a bit tiny in the dorms with not so much space between the beds... But I want to try the private rooms next time!

Well maintained and overall nice feel to the hostel. Good common areas and facilities. The dorm room I was in was incredibly cramped, even by Japanese standards, which was quite frustrating. Also the location felt a bit inconvenient.
