Property Description

We are the new hostel in Salvador city, located in one of the most touristic neighbourhood of Salvador. From there, it’s easy to get a shopping mall (Shopping Barra), markets (Hiper BomPreço and Hiper Ideal), besides good bars and restaurants with traditional foods of Bahia. From the hostel it’s easy to take bus to several interesting points at the city and visit many good places in Salvador (easy to get out and come back). Hostel Casarao 65 has a special design, with an old house style containing big walls, big windows and big rooms. The house has a large outside area with a beautiful garden and a big back garden.

The location of the Hostel is great for all moments of the year, especially during Carnaval period. Located really near of the mean Carnaval circuit (Circuit Barra-Ondina), we are in a prime location because our guests not only can easily get the crowd of Carnaval, but also enjoy a calm place to relax during the other part of the day. Also you can easily get one of the most bohemian points of Salvador, Rio Vermelho, by bus, Uber or taxi spending only around 10 minutes as well as our football stadium – Fonte Nova – and a beautiful lagoon with monuments representing our traditional religion – Dique do Tororo.

Great stay, a chilled but sociable hostel. Helpful staff, the owners Anita and Raphael are helpful and speak perfect English which is useful for useless gringos like me who speak no Portuguese. Would stay again if I ever revisit Salvador.

Casarão 65 is a lovely historical house in one of Salvador's best neighborhoods. It's well located in Barra, within walking distance of the neighborhood's attractions (beach & lighthouse). It's secure with a gate & there's lots of space indoors & outdoors. I spent one night in a private room, great value for money, but does have a shared bathroom. There's a beautiful golden retriever who lives at the hostel! I don't know what the atmosphere is like but I'd definitely stay there again!

The house is really beautiful, and don’t get me started on the marble bathroom!!! It’s a clean place and the dog is really friendly. Close to the supermarket and the beach. But if you’re there for a short time, it’s maybe more relevant to stay in a hostel in the old town. I recommend the place

It was nice my stay. There were a couple of situations I din't enjoy , they though I would leave the hostel 2 times. In one, when I got back to my bed at night there was another guy complaining that bed was already assigned to him, the worst part, there was NO ONE working at night, so no one to clarify what happened until the next day. And the other guy was drunk, so it wasn't a pleasant situation. The second time the lady who works in the afternoon just mistaken again. :/

Very friendly and helpful staff who spoke English well. Close to restaurants, transport, the beach and supermarket. Hot shower! Spacious lounge area and ample opportunity to meet other travellers. Dormitories have a/c from 21:00 till 09:00 but the 3 tiered bunks make the rooms overcrowded when the hostel has many guests. Even with few guests, the kitchen is too small and fridges were very full. Toilet cubicles are so small it's hard to sit down and overflowed twice the week I was there!

This hostel is more of a guest house than hostel!!! There is people permanently living there and there is no oil in the kitchen. I’m not sure why but the staff are never at the desk and always looked at me like I was weird. I wanted to leave my bag there for a few days and it was gonna be 15 reals a day... not free or cheap like most hostels. Don’t stay here...
