My experience here has been delightful. After 3 months of staying in busy hostels, this was the tranquil and wholesome stay I have been seeking. Gill is the friendliest host I’ve ever had, he makes you feel very very welcome and at home. The whole family is very nice and the place is beautifully kept. If you want to socialise and meet people, maybe here is not the place, that may be due to rainy season though. Only 30 mins walk from town. I love it! Extended my stay to a week. The peace is great

We stayed at La Casa de Maruja for several days before embarking upon a ten day trek in the mountains. Maruja and Gilf, the couple that owns and runs the B&B, were absolutely the kindest and most gracious hosts imaginable. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, and they were incredibly helpful with logistical questions we had, as well as booking taxis and transportation for us. The staff, Flor and Alex, were terrific. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay at Casa de Maruja - its a family run business and we were treated like part of the family! Breakfast was generous and delicious, there’s always hot water & teabags available, and we could use the kitchen too. Yes the location is a bit further from the centre but it’s a 1sol colectivo / 2soles taxi away. They helped us book a Laguna69 tour and prepped a lunchbox. Our room was beautiful, spacious and cleaned daily. Only criticism is the shower, there wasn’t always hot water.

Pros: Very comfortable beds (and warm) Big rooms Extremely helpful and attentive staff Small shop in hostel and next door Good kitchen Rooms cleaned daily Cons: Inconsistent hot water Situated a bit out of town - but definitely not an issue (a taxi into town costs 4 soles and takes 5 minutes) Not great for a solo traveller (very chilled vibes with fairly serious hikers)

Gil (the owner) was so congenial and helpful with advice and planning it more than made up for the location 5 minutes (by taxi) away from trip departure locations in town; there is a great kitchen with climbing wall upstairs (yes, climbing wall—Gil is a /mountain guide —thus his amazing knowledge); ask for the quietest room possible—a lot of noise up front (barking dogs & traffic)

Loved our stay here. A bit far from the center but 4 soles to taxi wasn't an issue. We spent most days on tours anyway so we cooked at the hostel in their kitchen (make sure you head to town for your groceries first!). They helped us book all our day tours and made sure we were satisfied and had a great service. The rooftop kitchen and common area was great (although really cold at night!!). Would definitely recommend, especially if you are wanting to have a good night sleep!
