We stayed in the 5 bed ensuite dorm fan room. 5th bed is located up some steps and is slightly private (a wall covers 1/2 the bed). Two fans are in the room with an incense to ward off the mosquitos - we did spray some insect repellent though! There's space to store your bags and a bench too which is handy. Bathroom was cleaned everyday we were there (better than most!) Staff were friendly and gave me some free rice when my case broke and water got into my GoPro! (Thankfully working again!)

Staff were very friendly and provided information on everything that I enquired. Met some amazing backpackers in the hostel and made friends with them (hung out for the next few days)! Could here screaming at night due to drunk tourists but all in all, environment was safe as there is a security guard outside the hostel at night. 100% recommended!

Great location, clean rooms, hammocks outside of every room. Only downside for me is that people burn trash outside at night near the hostel that made it really difficult to breathe and consequently sleep.

    Very Good

Very basic hostel. No air con so it gets very hot at night. The beds aren’t brilliant as well as the bathroom facilities. However, it’s not bad for the price. They offer free coffee&water refills, plus the hostel is in perfect location. Only downside was that they gave us the wrong information about getting the ferry to Bohol, telling us it is at 12-1pm when in actual fact it was at 11am, causing us to miss it, so we had to get a private boat costing us triple the price.

The backpacker lodge is a cute hotel conveniently located directly in Moalboal. Unfortunately, we specifically booked and paid extra for a room with A/C but on arrival only fans were provided in the room, which made the nights unbearably hot. Also, bugs and mosquitos can easily get through door and windows. Overall cleanliness was ok

My boyfriend and I decided to stay here as it had good reviews and it was really good location wise, the private room was lovely and it had basic facilities however, it was very hot as there was no air con, only 2 fans. There were also lots of little bugs which were everywhere. There was also a cockerel right opposite our room which started at 1am and didn’t stop until about 9am so we ended up moving to a different hostel as it kept us up all night.

if you’re looking for budget accomdation this is ok. staff are helpful with information on tours and transport. unfortunately we didn’t enjoy our stay here due to all the bugs, we even were woken up one night from feeling them crawling all over us, we seemed to be the only people without a mosquito net. toilets need cleaning regularly, the bin gets so full of toilet waste paper and the smell is unbearable. wifi didn’t work & no hot water.

This hostel is recommended to me on websites but its not that great. The private rooms looked great but the dorm is awefull. Met some amazing people here that made it a good trip for me but would never stay here again. Beds are okay but so many holes in the walls and windows. So many mosquitos. Staff is not very polite or helpfull.

Do not stay here. We were eaten alive by bed bugs. In the first night I moved beds because there were bug eggs in my bed. The room had no air con it was unbearable to sleep in. The room had no door so it was load and there was no privacy. There is not free fresh coffee there is one Nescafe each. You could not pay me to stay here it was more comfortable to sleep in a hammock outside (but lots of mosquitos). I have stayed in plenty of hostels over the world and this is the worst ever.
