Property Description

Set in the uniquely bio-diverse mountains of the Sierra Nevada, our farm-hostel is a place where guests and workers can enjoy the beauty of one of nature's world wonders whilst also learning about environmental sustainability, organic farming and indigenous culture. Furthermore, the area's natural endowments provide endless opportunities for outdoor activities, hikes and wildlife-watching. Originally, the property was part of an old coffee farm. During the construction of Mundo Nuevo, our goal was to preserve the original structure of the building whilst making it as functional and comfortable as possible for our guests and resident staff members. All our furniture and constructions are made of fallen trees from the property.

Mundo Nuevo is located in the uniquely bio-diverse mountains of the Sierra Nevada. You will have easy access to our fruit trees, vegetable and flower gardens. You will enjoy stunning surrounding views of valleys, mountains, sky, and the Caribbean sea. If you are in the mood to relax, there is a large communal room with sofas and hammocks. The economic support that hostel guests provide is crucial to helping us achieve our sustainability goals. However, the purpose of having a hostel goes beyond economic necessity; we hope that Mundo Nuevo will become a sustainability museum, a place where people from all over the world can learn, debate and contribute to a cause that is relevant to all of us. You will have access to the vegetable gardens, to the Awindua indigenous huts, and multiple trails along the mountain. Mundo Nuevo Eco Lodge is not only a place where one can find peace and enjoy the wonders of what nature has to offer, but it is also an educational centre where we aim to spread awareness about the importance of a more sustainable living in order to ensure the preservation of our planet and its resources for the generations to come.

Mundo Nuevo and its stunning views of the Sierra has much to offer, including hammocks perched on the morning-sun-ridge, cozy dormitories and beautiful double/triple/quadruple rooms. (most are ensuite).

Awesome mountaintop views during the day and at sunset! It is a bit of a hike to get there from the bottom of the mountain, about 90 minutes walking up a pretty steep incline. I recommend taking a moto up for 20 mil pesos instead. There are some cool hikes nearby. The private room/bathroom was clean and comfortable. Bring bug spray, I got bit up like crazy!

Excellent views and calm ambience. Great place for couples and mature travellers, not so much for students and party backpackers (thank God for that). Food is a mixed bag - it's all vegetarian, so they tend to feed you with some boring pasta bowl instead of local produce. Clean and well looked after facilities, free tea and coffee all day long which can actually be a life saver! Probably one of the best hostels in Minca (we booked casa Loma at first which was a disaster).

beautiful views and facilities. Perfect to chill out, hike and do tours. Incredible sunsets and coffee. The whole ethos and story behind MN is inspiring! BUT be aware that the location is far away from town (20 minute moto taxi 20000 pesos) don’t plan on heading into Minca often. Also can be expensive because you are asked not to BYO food (most of the food is grown locally to minimise waste and be self sufficient) you have to buy every meal there (delicious and not overly expensive but adds up).

    Fabulous

Very much a chill place. It quite hard to meet people as a solo traveller for me compared to other hostels. The concept is nice but some things could get a bit expensive for me, no internet in the rooms. Was great to catch my breath and behold some nature before continuing travelling and the sunset was great! Very friendly staff!

    Very Good

I think the place a real beauty. Great spot to chill, watch the sunset and relax from whatever. But on the same time accomendation is way overpriced for what you get.(dorm 50mil nothing included)The VEGETARIAN food which can be ordered extra is AWESOME, especially the dinner. Did the choclate tour on the neighboring farm. Was also overpriced, didn' feel like I got my moneys worth(25mil cop$) of information. I guess that is how it works on that hill. I would go somewhere else and visit for food.

I didn’t enjoy my time here. Considering all it’s third world facilities (no hot showers, WiFi doesn’t work, not clean) this hostel is way overpriced. This is also not a good place for solo travelers. I felt so off and depressed here. Staff can’t speak English and aren’t very engaging and the overall vibe is just depressing. If you are going to stay, stay for only one night and no longer! It’s not worth it!
