Summary of traveller reviews

YHA Newcastle Beach offers a fantastic location, just moments from the beach and local amenities. Guests appreciate the friendly staff and the wide range of free activities and equipment, including surfboards and bikes. While the property has a charming, older feel, some recent reviews mention issues with cleanliness and the beds could be more comfortable.

Wouldn’t strongly recommend for young solo female travellers - mostly older male guests in the common areas. Very kind staff, but scarce and rarely present - was not shown to my room or shown the location of the facilities like in most hostels. The free surfboards and wetsuits as well as the fireplace are amazing amenities.
