About Nice

Nice is a beautiful city on the sun-soaked French Riviera, known for its amazing art galleries, pastel-hued architecture and jaw-dropping coastlines. A popular summer spot among French people and international travellers alike, Nice is the kind of city where the pace of life is slow and days are spent strolling through its colourful streets, sunbathing on golden sand and dining al fresco while you listen to the sound of the waves breaking.

There’s a lot of hostels in Nice to choose from on your Riviera adventure, from vibrant social spots to chilled-out beachfront abodes. Not only are they cheap, our Nice hostels offer lots of freebies like free Wi-Fi, free breakfast and fantastic happy hours to help you out with even bigger savings. Solo travellers will love the many social events offered in our Nice hostels, with everything from pub crawls to scuba diving. Our hostels in Nice also boast amazing facilities like rooftop terraces, modern communal kitchens and spotless bathrooms, and there’s even one with an on-site gym and sauna that’s free to guests 24 hours a day!

You’ll have plenty of choice when considering where to stay in Nice, as there are hostels located in many exciting neighbourhoods. The Old Town is the most picturesque part of Nice – think quirky pastel-coloured buildings, cobbled streets, historic squares and small, local shops. The New Town provides a total contrast, with modern restaurants, swanky cocktail bars and big name shops, not to mention a selection of art galleries and museums to while away the hours in. If you prefer to be close to the coast at all times, check out the area surrounding the Promenade des Anglais, a beachfront walk that offers incredible views of the sparkling Med, plus some of the best places to eat in the whole city.

While in Nice, you should really make the most of its golden coastline and spend a chilled day (or more) soaking up the sun on some of Europe’s most beautiful beaches. When you’re suitably relaxed, make the hike up Castle Hill for sepia-toned views of the city’s amazing architecture. This is also where you’ll find the ruins of the Chateau de Nice and its verdant public gardens, an absolute must in the summer time. Nice also happens to be full of world-class galleries and museums for you to visit. For the richest collection of French and international art, you can’t go wrong with the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

The city of Nice is a work of art in itself, so it’s always best to explore on foot when possible. For longer distances there’s an extensive public transport system, the Ligne d’Azur Network, that offers various bus and tram routes. A solo ticket can be used on any form of transport as many times as necessary up to 74 minutes, and costs €1.50. Daily and weekly passes are also available. Nice airport is 8km outside of the city centre, and is connected to several main public transport stations by various bus and tram routes.
