The Venice Beach Hostel

Our small, clean and friendly Youth Hostel has both communal shared dormitories with bunk beds and 3 private rooms in a nice, safe area.

Important Things To Note Before Booking:

Due to Covid restrictions were are unable to offer free LAX pick up or breakfast.

1 - Our budget Youth Hostel is for Young International Backpackers/tourists + you will need proof of international travel (e.g., PASSPORT with recent stamps or a valid outbound air ticket) -
If that's not you, please call us to discuss your situation before booking/traveling.
Know that at times, we can make exceptions and welcome young domestic U.S. tourists, however,
** Local Californian residents or non-backpackers/tourists will not be admitted and we reserve the right of admission. **

-- If we're your first hostel experience just remember that we are not a Hotel/Motel & we offer cheap dorm beds/rooms for Young International Budget Backpackers only. During high season, the hostel will be full, privacy cannot be guaranteed & an open mind is required. Other than that, you'll meet lots of like-minded young souls & have a great time! --

2 --- Taxes not included in all the rates shown online. Upon your arrival, you'll be required to pay the 'Balance Due On Arrival' plus an additional state tax, UNLESS your confirmation email states that the taxes are already included.

3 --- Hostel opens for check-ins from 9am through 12 midnight
(Note that we only open our doors at 9AM so please do not call us before that time or attempt to enter the hostel (not even to drop your bags.))
Dorm beds/rooms ready from 1PM and unfortunately, we cannot accept arrivals after midnight, unless by special arrangements and a late check in fee per hour up to 1 am will be imposed after midnight.

-- Checkout time is 10am - Please clear your bed/room by 10AM, however, feel free to store your luggage + welcome to stay in the lounge area until 1PM.
-- If you need to stay later than 1PM (+- until 7PM) and use the facilities (showers/kitchen/lounge/luggage storage) due to a late outbound flight/train, you'll need to pay us a small day fee of $5. --

4 --- We count with TWO BUILDINGS, the main one is a vintage German style Country House converted to a Youth Hostel 35 years ago making us the longest running Youth Hostel in Venice Beach! The second venue, 200 meters away, is a two storey boutique building, very cozy and will make you feel at home!
You might be staying at either location but YOU MUST CHECK-IN at 2915 YALE AVENUE.

Come to Venice Beach, home of surf, sun and sandy beaches. The world-famous Boardwalk with its crazy stores, cool markets and street vendors, talented street performers, skate parks, basketball courts & THE Muscle Beach!

We try to make your stay in Venice as comfortable as possible by providing:

-- The usual Youth Hostel facilities & amenities: luggage storage for staying guests, WiFi, smoking patio, free small lockers for your small valuables (bring a padlock, please!), free Boogie boards, fully equipped communal kitchen and lounge area, Big-Screen TV (LIVE Premier League Football), coin operated laundry room, free all-day tea & coffee, cheap Beach cruisers (bike lock inc.), towels for rent ($2), hair dryers and lots more!
-- Great day & night life close to the beach, bars, malls, 3 inexpensive bus lines with easy routes and for water enthusiasts, the amazing Marina del Rey with kayaks, Paddleboards, etc. for rent.

5 --- FREE & SAFE STREET PARKING ON BOTH VENUES (Street parking does not mean private parking or a closed parking lot, but it will be free and your vehicle will definitely be safe) - Always comply with all parking signs and regulations, e.g., park on the right side of the road, no parking in alleys, red colored curbs or in front of fire hydrants (not even for 10min while you're doing the check-in). --From the baggage claim exit the building and take the free airport 'LAX Lot South / LAX City Bus Center” shuttle to the 'LAX City Bus Center' then board the #3 or #R3 Big Blue Bus towards Santa Monica. Get off at the Washington/Lincoln intersection (20-30 min.) then cross the street to 'Walgreens' and walk three blocks on Washington Blvd. We are located opposite the '26 BEACH' restaurant (neon sign), at 2915 YALE AVENUE (we're the second building on the right, the brown and white one). The bus costs $1.25 per person and you'll need the exact change.

7 --- 48 HOURS CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL DATE.
Note that so far, you have not paid the Hostel any fees. You're about to pay a small deposit to the booking agent and in order to be eligible for a deposit refund (A.K.A. 'free cancellation'), you must cancel your booking on your account at the website page or APP at least 48 hours before your arrival.
-- Failure to cancel in time will result in a cancellation charge fee equal to the first night of your stay.
-- Additionally, if you book a private room for 4 nights or more, we'll pre-charge your credit card for the first 2 nights and it will be non-refundable. --

8 --- 8 - Youth Hostel Rules:
Beer & Wine - YES,
Vodka, Whisky & Spirits - NO!,
Cigarettes - Outside please,
WASH UP all your used dishes/pots/cups/cutlery/etc.
Marijuana & Weed - SORRY BUT NO! Instead, kindly take a walk towards the beach to get nice & high!

9 - Tips!
-- Ensure you bring US Dollars, not Euros/foreign currency as it will be impossible to exchange them outside the airport.
-- Get your US power adapters for your smart phones and laptops before your trip.
-- Bring a small padlock to secure your locker!
-- Read the arrival instructions and note your CHECK-IN LOCATION (2915 YALE AVENUE) specially if you're carrying large suitcases.
-- Download + learn how to use ride sharing apps (Uber/Lyft) as they will be your life savers.
-- There are 3 ATM's close by to withdraw cash (best is Wendy's Donuts - $1 ATM!) as well as several phone shops to get a U.S. ---

10 - Special Event June 8 - July 19 2026
Reservations for this period will be pre- charged in full 14 days in advance of arrival or for bookings made less than 14 days in advance of arrival at the point of confirmation.
No refunds shall be permitted in the event of cancellation.
Prospective guests should be reminded that we are a backpackers hostel and good behavior and tolerance for other guests is a prerequisite for reservations, failure to adhere to this code of conduct shall result in termination of the reservation without refund.
