Summary of traveller reviews

La Joya Hostel in Valparaiso offers friendly staff and a great rooftop bar, with many finding it a good base near the bus station. Some recent guests noted issues with cleanliness in bathrooms and a less-than-welcoming atmosphere from some staff.

Off centered from the touristy town center but still very practical. Only downside is we didn’t really feel welcomed by the staff. Cleaning staff does an amazing job though

Just 4 blocks from bus terminal and 3 blocks from Baron metro station. I enjoyed my 3 days in Valparaiso. Check out Pablo Neruda's 5 story house overlooking the sea. La Joya was a great hostel for the visit.

The staff was friendly and in general the rooms were clean. Problems arise when you want to wash your hands. No soap in the bathrooms inside the rooms or in the ones next to the reception. At check in we were told about the breakfast which seemed very extensive. However, when we got to breakfast we only got one bun with cheese. That's all you're getting. Apparently there is some kind of tier system where people in private rooms get better breakfast which is not communicated at all.
