Since 1986, Backpackers in Paradise is an 18 to 35 years hostel that has been creating that iconic 80’s vibe and is one of the first and longest-running hostels on the Gold Coast! Just a 2-minute walk from the city center and the beach, it’s perfectly located to enjoy all the best that Surfers Paradise has to offer, from trendy restaurants and tourist attractions to stunning beaches and lively clubs.

Backpackers in Paradise is the ideal mix of party and relaxation. Our fully licensed bar is open all day, offering daily happy hours and a variety of drinks, so please note that BYO is not allowed. Our party reps organize exciting nightly activities and offer nightclub passes, ensuring every night is memorable. You’ll also love our on-site café, swimming pool, pool tables, cinema room, table tennis, free Wi-Fi, smoking area, laundry facilities, and a large, shared kitchen with all the essentials.

We offer comfortable and spacious dorms that sleep between 4-20 people, all with ensuite bathrooms. For more privacy, we have rooms for up to 2 people. All dorms and private rooms are cleaned daily by our friendly housekeeping team.

Check-in is at 2 PM, and checkout is at 10 AM. A $25 security bond is required upon arrival. Dorms are available for guests aged 18-35, and private rooms are for those over 18. All guests must present a valid international passport at check-in—no exceptions.

Refunds on accommodation are only given in extenuating circumstances and are at the discretion of management.
