Summary of traveller reviews

Auberge de Jeunesse HI Strasbourg 2 Rives is in a quiet, green area, ideal for cyclists with good bike storage. Staff are generally friendly and helpful. However, the location is quite far from the city centre, and some guests found the cleanliness and facilities to be lacking.

We checked out early due to the hostel falling far below expectations. Advertised facilities were unavailable (with no warning of building work), there was no soap, lockers couldn't be locked, the kitchen smelt of rotten food and had no cooker, and smoking occurred despite it being non-smoking. Reception laughed when we asked about drinking water. We paid €30 for an unhygienic breakfast with uncovered food and unrefrigerated dairy.

Located in the middle of nowhere. The supersmall rooms and the fence around the property gives a prison vibe. The kitchen was insanely dirty. No soap at the faucet in the room. No outlet or lamp in my bed (upper bunk in a 4 bed room). Weird crowd. Only good thing was the gentleman in the reception, who was very kind.

Pros : Inside the hostel was very nice bedroom was clean and tidy when we got there check in was quick and easy reception staff were nice. Cons : it is quite inconvenient to get to. It is a reasonable walk from both a tram and train station along dark poorly lit roads. It did not have hand soap in bathrooms, a kitchen or washing machines Our lockers didn’t lock. Not very social atmosphere however we weren’t there very much during the day.
