Ceylon StayZ was created by a family of four wanderlusts in October 2023. It is a traveller’s oasis, nestled within the heart of vibrant Colombo, where history meets hospitality. Our hostel is housed within a charming century-old building, exuding character and warmth at every turn. Situated in the exclusive neighborhood of Colombo 7, fondly known as Cinnamon Gardens, which is renowned for its leafy boulevards and colonial-era mansions, our hostel offers a unique glimpse into the city's rich past. Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the area, from exploring nearby museums, verdant parks, art galleries to indulging in culinary delights at trendy cafes and restaurants. Being the diplomatic enclave of the city, it is also home to numerous embassies, high commissions and government institutions. Whether you're a solo adventurer or a group of friends seeking new experiences, our hostel provides the perfect base for your Sri Lankan journey. Below are some of our sustainable initiatives that goes beyond just providing a bed and of which we would love for our guests to be a part of!

1. Change starts at the very first step: Our registration process is completely done online. This has helped us save up on hundreds of thousands of papers being used and thereby, has contributed to conserving thousands of liters of water, saving trees and preserving the environment.

2. Reduce & Recycle: we have partnered up with local businesses and environmental organizations in order to recycle our waste and plastics in order to create a greener environment.

3. Environmental Conservation Projects: we have partnered up with local bodies where we encourage our guests to participate in projects such as beach cleaning, and other community uplifting activities in order to help our mission in sustainable tourism. We would love for you to be a part of these activities.

4. Clothes for Compassion: we started this amazing initiative as we saw many guests leaving back items that they do not want to carry on to their next adventure. We collect these gently used clothing & accessories, which we wash & press and keep them ready for distribution. These contributions don't just fill our donation box, but they find new purpose in supporting local communities in need.

5. Fair Trade Engagement and Supporting Local Economies: we source our goods directly from small local producers which supports their livelihoods and which in turn promotes ethical business practices.

We are thrilled to have you embark on your adventure with us! Here's some essential information to ensure your stay here is nothing short of amazing:

Check-In/Check-Out:
Check-in time 14:00, Check-out time 11:00. Please contact us if you would like to request for an early/late check-in

Breakfast:
Our yummy brekky is served between 7.30am and 9.30am (we’re flexible to accommodate your busy schedules in case it’s communicated in advance). It comes with 2 options, Sri Lankan or Western.

Common Areas:
Our lobby space is cozily designed for relaxation and mingling. Kitchen facilities are also available for your culinary adventures.

Airport Transfers:
An airport bus (route no.187) runs several times a day from the airport to Colombo Fort. This is the cheapest travel option. You can get to Colombo Fort and take bus route number 122, 125 or 138 to get to our hostel. Ask them to drop you off near “Nelum Pokuna”. You can also get a taxi or tuk tuk via "Pick Me Sri Lanka" or "Uber", or we can arrange safe and hassle-free airport transfers if you want a private & more convenient ride.

Getting about:
Sri Lanka has a pretty affordable albeit rather adventurous 😉 public transportation system. If you’re pressed for time, it’s convenient to hire a taxi which we can arrange for you. Pick Me and Uber functions only within Colombo & Kandy.

Need recommendations? Our staff is here to share insider tips on must-visit places and hidden gems. We have also designed a map covering the locations in Colombo which we feel are worth a visit. Please ask us about it when you arrive.

Safety and Security:
Lockers are provided for securing your valuables. You can bring your own lock for added safety, or get one from our desk on arrival.

Wi-Fi:
Stay connected with our complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hostel.
