The Alabama was first established as a hotel in 1867. The building has undergone a few changes since then but was re-established as a boutique style art hotel in 2013.The hotel is owned and operated by Tassie locals with emphasis on creating an enjoyable,affordable and artistic space suitable for world travellers and inter state visitors alike.

The Alabama offers beautiful budget accommodation as well as a public bar/cafe and balcony terrace right in the heart of Hobart.

You'll find it to be far more interesting than your standard hotel or motel because it is unique,sincere,a little quirky and a whole lot special.

We are very close to a variety of restaurants, shops, galleries and a lovely farmers market. The famous Salamanca market and the MONA ferry are less than 10 minutes' walk away.

All rooms are heated and have access to communal/shared bathroom facilities.

Guest luggage storage is available.

Accessed via stairs only, the reception is on the 1st floor and rooms are located on both the 1st and 2nd floors.

The closest airport to Alabama Hotel is Hobart Airport, 15 km from the property.

Great location in the CBD. Just note that you will need to park your car a few blocks away, but the staff were helpful with providing information. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms and bathrooms were clean. A nice cafe and bar with a balcony and couches that is open during the day but closed in the evening and at night time. This means there isn't a lot of space to socialise at the hotel at night and the place stays very quiet, which may or may not be what you're looking for.

Can’t really go wrong. Clean and comfortable. Shared bathrooms and good beds. Cafe and balcony in the hotel and nice staff. Good location in the centre too so you can walk to things. Luggage storage too.
