About

Welcome to The Dawson Hostel – Your Key to Dublin

Stay right in the heart of Dublin at The Dawson Hostel, just around the corner from Grafton Street and a short stroll to Temple Bar, Trinity College, and St. Stephen’s Green. Whether you're here for the culture, the nightlife, or just to explore the city, you're in the perfect spot.

We’ve got a range of en-suite room options including private rooms, mixed dorms, and female-only dorms. All rooms have air conditioning, heating, and private bathrooms. Dorm beds come with under-bed storage—just bring your own padlock.

There’s free high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the building, a self-catering kitchen, a common room, and 24-hour reception. Luggage storage and laundry facilities are available for a small fee, and towels can be hired for €3.

Heads-up: We’re right in the middle of Dublin’s nightlife scene, with nightclubs, pubs, bars and restaurants around the building. That means it can get noisy, especially on weekends. We offer free earplugs at reception, so you're covered if you're a light sleeper.

One more thing: we’re in a lovely old building, but that means no lift, just stairs. So please keep that in mind when packing or booking.

Ideal for solo travellers, groups, and backpackers who want to be where the action is—The Dawson Hostel puts you in the centre of it all.

Please note:
Quiet hours run from 23:00 to 08:00. If you’re a night owl, feel free to use the common room and keep noise to a minimum in the corridors and outside areas.
Check-out is by 10:00 a.m. on your departure day. We’ll miss you, but we do need to get things ready for the next guests.
No smoking or illegal substances anywhere on the property. Breaking this rule comes with a €100 fine, and that’s no fun for anyone.
This is an alcohol-free space. That means no drinking or storing alcohol in rooms or common areas.
Any damages (including seriously messy bedding or carpets) may result in charges of up to €200.

Summary of traveller reviews

The Dawson Hostel in Dublin boasts an excellent central location, perfect for exploring the city. While many guests praise the friendly and helpful staff, some recent reviews highlight persistent issues with cleanliness, including mold and unpleasant odors in rooms and bathrooms. Noise from nearby clubs is also a common complaint, making it less ideal for light sleepers.

Was a great place to stay. Super great location that is in walking distance of anything you may need. Victor up at the front desk was especially helpful. Five stars for him

You get what you pay for - clean linen and bathroom was okay. The largest issue is street noise - you hear everything, talking, the tram. I had one of the worst sleeps and this wasn’t even a raging weekend evening! The floor shakes when the front door closes. Just a very old building. There is one shower/toilet to 10 people in a dorm. This bathroom was also only covered by a frosted glass door - meaning the whole room lit up when it was in use and with limited privacy. Good central location.
