About

Welcome to The Dawson Hostel – Your Key to Dublin

Stay right in the heart of Dublin at The Dawson Hostel, just around the corner from Grafton Street and a short stroll to Temple Bar, Trinity College, and St. Stephen’s Green. Whether you're here for the culture, the nightlife, or just to explore the city, you're in the perfect spot.

We’ve got a range of en-suite room options including private rooms, mixed dorms, and female-only dorms. All rooms have air conditioning, heating, and private bathrooms. Dorm beds come with under-bed storage—just bring your own padlock.

There’s free high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the building, a self-catering kitchen, a common room, and 24-hour reception. Luggage storage and laundry facilities are available for a small fee, and towels can be hired for €3.

Heads-up: We’re right in the middle of Dublin’s nightlife scene, with nightclubs, pubs, bars and restaurants around the building. That means it can get noisy, especially on weekends. We offer free earplugs at reception, so you're covered if you're a light sleeper.

One more thing: we’re in a lovely old building, but that means no lift, just stairs. So please keep that in mind when packing or booking.

Ideal for solo travellers, groups, and backpackers who want to be where the action is—The Dawson Hostel puts you in the centre of it all.

Please note:
Quiet hours run from 23:00 to 08:00. If you’re a night owl, feel free to use the common room and keep noise to a minimum in the corridors and outside areas.
Check-out is by 10:00 a.m. on your departure day. We’ll miss you, but we do need to get things ready for the next guests.
No smoking or illegal substances anywhere on the property. Breaking this rule comes with a €100 fine, and that’s no fun for anyone.
This is an alcohol-free space. That means no drinking or storing alcohol in rooms or common areas.
Any damages (including seriously messy bedding or carpets) may result in charges of up to €200.

Summary of traveller reviews

The Dawson Hostel in Dublin boasts a fantastic central location, perfect for exploring the city. Guests frequently praise the friendly and helpful staff. However, some recent reviews mention issues with cleanliness, particularly in bathrooms, and noise from nearby clubs, especially on weekends. The hostel may be better suited for travellers prioritizing location and budget over quiet and pristine facilities.

The room itself was alright(20 person mixed dorm) but the shared bathroom was out of soap and had no paper towel. The beds were clean and had curtains but there was a lingering body oder smell. The kitchen was pretty dark as well. The location was very good for walking to places.

Large sized room(325), 8 female dorm. Had nice vanity space outside the en-suite bathroom. Bathroom was very spacious. Hot showers. Stairs were a pain. Vending machine right at the base of the stairs was nice. Towel rental was €3. And was disappointed to see they charge for luggage storage after check out, €5 per bag. Keep that in mind when booking. WiFi had bad connection, kept disconnecting every 5 ish minutes the whole stay. All in all good for the price and location.

The only reason I stayed here was because hostel world was offering a deal. Charging €60 a night for the 20-bed coed dorm is CRAZY. The key card stopped working after the second time? Other people in my room had the same issue, so after a while people in the room just had to start opening the door for us. There are privacy curtains on both sides of the bed, but not on the end, so it kind of defeats the purpose. The staff were great and super helpful, though. The location was good as well.
