The Humpback Turtle is Playa Almejal's first backpackers hostel where the jungles of Choco meet the stunning beaches of the Pacific Ocean.

With our thatch roof cabins and extensive organic garden, The Humpback offers private rooms, spacious dorm rooms, Hammocks, vibing beach bar, communal kitchen, surf board rentals, a wide range of local tours and activities, as well as our restaurant where fresh fish and home grown herbs keep it tasty.

The town is a classic fishing village, and the people are some of the most hospitable and party focused people one can come across. Whether chilling at the Humpback, trekking through the jungle, relaxing on the beach, or dancing with the locals, El Valle's got a bit for everyone.

Beautiful location on the beach, easy to make friends, nice food not too expensive. Only downside would be the tours - hard to organise and staff got really funny with us when we eventually went with a different provider/not their taxi driver/another rec from town. Overall though enjoyed our stay here. Volunteer was fab.

This place is the best. Firstly, the staff are amazing. Patricia, Giselle, and Reuben are so friendly and welcoming and do everything to make your trip unbelievable. The food here is also traditional Colombian of the region and it is prepared to perfection, delicious for breakfast lunch and dinner. Location is also great and the overall vibe is chill. Yours were also great through this hostel, caught a massive yellow fin tuna with this crew!

An amazing place to disconnect and connect with new people in a natural paradise full of activities. The staff is professional and friendly. Ruben at reception does an amazing job, and it is hard to find anything bad to say about the team. Patricia is amazing too. Highly recommended.
