About

Looking for a quiet place in Japan — but still want to meet people?

Guest House KURA is a 140-year-old traditional Japanese home where you can slow down, relax, and experience real local life.

Located in Suzaka, Nagano, away from busy cities and crowded tourist spots, KURA offers a peaceful, home-like atmosphere.

This is not a modern hotel.
The house has been carefully preserved with its original layout, so you can experience how people in Japan lived over 100 years ago.

You’ll sleep on futon in tatami rooms, and the traditional structure means you may hear the presence of others — just like families once lived together.

At the same time, something special happens here.
Many travelers say this is the first place in Japan where they truly connected with locals and other guests.

Conversations happen naturally — over a shared meal, a cup of coffee, or a quiet evening in the living room.

We’re locals from Suzaka, and we love sharing our knowledge.
From hidden local restaurants to unique experiences, we’re always happy to help you plan your stay.

We also offer exclusive local experiences through our official website, including cultural and nature-based activities.
Our English-speaking staff will support you, so you can join with confidence.

If you want more than just a place to sleep — if you want to experience real Japan, meet people, and feel at home — Guest House KURA is for you.
