Nice location, staffs are mostly volunteers, they are very friendly and helpful. Some of them don’t speak English but trying to learn. Room is very hot no AC , no breakfast.

Well equipped kitchen but it is very small The door to the hostel is always left open and the windows on the ground floor do not lock. There seems to be more staff than guests and they often spend a lot of time taking up the communal area, which is very small. It’s difficult to know which staff are actually working. There is also an awkward atmosphere as if you are invading the home of the staff. It makes the communal areas feel uncomfortable. The room was fine

It is really well located, has nice common areas/kitchen and is good value for money. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel secure: the ground floor window to the room didn’t lock and the front door was always left open. We understand that Paraty is relatively safe but why have a good security system in place if you aren’t going to use it? The majority of people staying there seemed to be volunteers which created a weird vibe where we felt like we were intruding and never knew who was on shift to ask.
