Emile Hostel

It’s okay. Gibraltar is hard, because, like an island, everything is imported. The hostel is basic, but the staff is friendly, welcoming, and responsive. But the hostel really is quite basic. No kitchen at all, the bed squeaked with every toss or turn, and the mattress was not great. I’d consider staying there again, or I might look for something in la Linea, across the “frontier”. Crossing between Spain and Gibraltar is so easy.

Really wish the rooms had air conditioning - it gets stuffy and humid at night during the summer.

My stay was really enjoyable. I love that it's a long-standing family-run hostel. I had stayed 16 years ago whilst on a cycle ride and was glad to experience being there again. Security was good in that my children and I were the only ones in the mixed dorm and had our own key to the room and so could safely leave our back packs. Breakfast was toast and coffee, which was fine for us. Location means other options are within easy reach. Thank you, Manuel, Giselle, Emilio and rest of family :-)
