One of those rare hostels where the community just happens naturally. Great people, great atmosphere, and the kind of place where you end up making plans with strangers and somehow feeling at home. Mandalas Hostal made my time in San Pedro genuinely special, would absolutely stay again!

it’s in a dodgy little alleyway, in the dark it doesn’t feel super nice as a female (especially with the pitbull barking at you like crazy from another’s house rooftop!!). the rooms and bathrooms are oookay, not very cozy. and so is the upstairs ‘rooftop terrace’ which actually isn’t at the rooftop. it looks like they tried to make it look okay through investing as little money as possible

Good location, atmosphere and facilities. Unfortunately, my experience with management overshadowed the stay. After a dispute, I discovered the owner had shared my private WhatsApp profile photo in a local community group alongside a message about me. I later had difficulty being accepted at another hostel. Whatever the disagreement, I felt circulating a guest’s photo in this way was inappropriate. I’ve rated the other categories fairly, but cannot recommend how the situation was handled.
