There is always something happening at Mama Tungu. Depending on the day, you can join family dinners, trivia nights, beer pong, games, happy hours and other social activities designed to help travelers meet each other.
We also help you organize the best adventures in Baños, including rafting, canyoning, canopy, paragliding and visits along the Ruta de las Cascadas.
Activities booked through Mama Tungu include transportation from the hostel and back, so you do not need to organize your own transfers. Just get ready and enjoy the adventure.
We recommend staying for at least three or four nights — Baños has a lot to explore, and Mama Tungu has plenty to experience.
OUR LOCATION
Mama Tungu is not located in the busy downtown area. We are surrounded by nature on the Ruta de las Cascadas, close to waterfalls and outdoor adventures.
A taxi between downtown Baños and Mama Tungu costs approximately $3.
During the day, you can also walk 800 metres downhill from the hostel to the main road and take the local bus for only $0.35. From there, you can travel into downtown Baños or continue directly along the Ruta de las Cascadas.
Our location is particularly convenient for exploring the waterfall route: you can catch the bus from the main road and begin your journey without having to travel back into downtown Baños first.
Because we have our own bar, restaurant, pool, hot tub, activities and social events, you do not need to go downtown every time you want to eat, have a drink or meet other travelers.
You get the best of both worlds: easy access to Baños and the Ruta de las Cascadas, together with a beautiful natural setting and a complete social hostel experience.
