Roamer St Kilda

This is not a perfect hostel, but it delivered exactly what I needed from it. I came to Melbourne looking to meet with other travellers and people who liked to socialise. Roamer delivered exactly that. In addition, the bed sheets and the sleeping areas were clean and nice. The shared bathrooms were good. And the kitchen and social area worked. The hostel had a lot of character and felt quite homey. I felt like I finally found a hostel in Melbourne without big crowds of long-term working holiday lodgers, but

Had a great stay, beds were comfy and felt private, aliyah the event organiser and Adam from the bar were very friendly and made sure there was lots going on

Try and avoid staying here - it’s filthy. Every surface had about 2 months worth of dust on, and the kitchens were rank with cockroaches. I politely mentioned to reception staff the cleanliness, and they said their team wasn’t motivated to give guests a clean place to stay in. Super weird.
