Looking for a simple, friendly, social hostel in Weligama where you can surf, meet people, and enjoy the local experience? Welcome to The Surf Hostel Weligama!
We are a simple, affordable hostel—not a luxury hotel. Our focus is on providing the basic things travelers need, a clean place to stay, helpful people, and most importantly, a friendly social atmosphere.
We are just 550 meters (around an 8-minute walk) from Weligama’s main surf beach. The bus station is right at our doorstep, and the train station is nearby, making it easy to explore Weligama and the rest of Sri Lanka.

We work with Be Cool Surf School Weligama, one of the well-known surf schools in Weligama, offering surf lessons and affordable surf programs for travelers.
Guests staying with us can enjoy special deals on surf lessons and surf programs through our surf school partnership.
Whether you are a complete beginner or already know how to surf, we can help you find the right surf experience.

Please understand that we are a simple hostel, not a high-luxury property. If you are looking for luxury hotel-style facilities and services, we may not be the right place for you.
🧹 Cleaning & Extra Help
Our rooms receive basic cleaning once a day.
If you need additional cleaning or extra help with your room during your stay, simply let reception know and we will do our best to help.
We kindly ask guests to communicate with our reception team during their stay if something needs attention. We want to have the opportunity to help you while you are here, rather than finding out about an issue later through a review.

It is a great way to ask questions, find travel information, connect with other guests, arrange activities, get local tips, and ask for help with things you may need during your stay.

🌴 Come for the Social Vibe
The social atmosphere is a big part of why people choose to stay in a hostel.
We organize daily social activities from around 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, giving guests a chance to meet, share stories, make friends, and enjoy Weligama together.
So, if you enjoy meeting new people, socializing, surfing, and sharing experiences, you will probably love staying with us.
However, if you are looking for a very quiet place where you can stay completely alone and avoid social interaction, our hostel may not be the best choice for you.
