The Purple Pineapple

Booked this for 3 nights based on good reviews with a few mosquito warnings buried in them. Should've paid more attention. The basics are fine: good location near town, friendly staff, clean, feels safe. As a bare-bones hostel it does the job - nothing special, and looking a bit tired for a place that's only 2 months old. Then there's the real problem: it's built right next to a stagnant river, and the mosquitoes, ants and flies are relentless - not just outside, but in the room too. Spray, coils, killing

Awful stay here checked out early! During the night a drunk local man climbed into my bed and into another female travellers. The doors were left open so he just walked right in. Next to a river that smells and attracts a lot of mosquitos. As a female and solo traveller I would not recommend staying here, I did not feel safe and did not find the staff very willing to help.

I liked the hostel a lot. Not a party hostel, small enough to make it easy to talk to people. So I think it was still social. Mosquitoes are a thing, but they didn't bother me or find a way to my bed. Staff is super nice and helpful, and the place is very clean :)
