We love it when travelers describe Ventana Sur that way as it is exactly what we try to be: a place for travelers who want to share with others in a decent but yet fun atmosphere, sometimes just chilling on the terrace or by the pool, sometimes exchanging on your traveling experience, sometimes reading a book, sometimes having dinner all together, sometimes sharing a barbecue with a glass (or a couple of bottles) of soda, wine or pisco, depending on the mood...
You are very much welcome if you are laid back, if you understand that you should bring earplugs if you want to go to bed at 10 pm but also that you should be enough respectful not to make too much noise at 2 am...
We are located a few blocks from metro St. Isabel, next to Bustamante Park in Providencia, at walking distance from the major tourist attractions (Bellavista, St. Cristobal, St. Lucia). It is a very safe neighborhood with restaurants, bars and supermarkets around.
The manager of Ventana Sur, Ivan, has been living in Santiago for...ever and the hostel has been running for 13 years so for sure we can give you all the information you need regarding our beloved Santiago.
Just so you know, our breakfast starts at 9:00 and includes:

This might be my favourite hostel I have stayed in largely due to the owner Ivan. From the moment I arrived he made myself and the other guests during the week feel welcome as well as giving great suggestions for Santiago and the local neighbourhood. There is a great social atmosphere where you can meet other travellers while also respecting those who want their own space to chill. A special place which I would recommend to anyone travelling to Santiago!

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in, very homely feel and the pool and outdoor area is a wonderful and chilled place to unwind, cool off on a hot day and relax. A big thanks to Ivan for being incredibly hospitable, friendly and helpful with providing tips and advice for exploring Santiago and travel around Chile. Highly recommend!

Disappointed after reading amazing reviews.
Location is fantastic, Barrio Italia has lots of lovely coffee shops, restaurants and bars. Staff were pretty helpful when asking about laundry etc. The dorm room I was in was unbrearably hot. There was also a party that the owner was involved in that was really loud until 5am with music blaring which I felt was inconsiderate of other people.
Bathrooms werent clean.
Pool was nice.
Didn't get breakfast at 9am despite being told we would on the second morning. N
