Kagoshima Little Asia Guest House

Great place to stay in Kagoshima as far as value for money. Bed is a little hard and not the cleanest place as Japanese standards go, but still a great place to just sleep for the night with everything you need, a small personal locker, little eating space, and bunk to sleep on for an extremely affordable price in a very convenient location within the city.

Nice atmosphere, great to have free washing machine and free bike rentals. Some parts of the hostel are dusty: lockers, dryer, washing machine, fan grids. Someone from the staff told me they don't have a mop for cleaning which sounds astonishing to me. I wish they clean the male dormitory with water more often.

Little Asia is a bit old and daggy, like me. Maybe that's why I like it. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff helpful. The kitchen is a small but adequate. Free use of a washing machine and computers is a definite bonus. Location is excellent, close to the train station but it can get noisy from trains clattering over the joints in the track. And the toilets greet you by raising the lid as you approach. Only two downsides: the mattresses are thin, and the tv goes nonstop in the common area.
