I wouldn’t recommend the dormitory for a good night sleep before Ijen. It’s is full of mosquitoes through all yhe openings, strong light entering the room and very noisy.

I stayed here two nights, did Ijen one night which I booked through the hostel (300k because it was a weekend). It was a good base for Ijen. Facilities were basic. Breakfast was toast with jam and fruits, coffee or tea. There was a restaurant right across the street which was good to eat at, and a department store 5 min walk (Ramayana) which was convenient. Staff were really wonderful!!

Not really a hostel. More like a roof, with bamboo and drywall for walls. Would hate to be there in a storm. Lots of mosquitoes. First place I had real trouble with bugs. It was fine for hiking Ijen. Wouldn't want to spend actually time there though.
