I went in June, when it was over 90 degrees F (40 C). It was way too hot. I didn't understand why there wasn't air conditioning in the dorms but there was in the other cabins. Just silly. The staff was friendly, and the boat was sort of convenient. You have to call the hotel for the boat shuttle to come pick you up from town. The management was giving "white savior" and the lack of kitchen was meh. For the most part, I didn't get many mosquito bites, but the heat had me on edge. Wouldn't return.

Boatique was awesome. Nice property, nice staff (Jessie was adorable and helped so much). I would like to address them a big thank you cause they arranged a whole night journey for me to reach Guatemala City before the strikes start and in a last minute organization. Everything was perfect.

Before booking, be aware that there is no way to leave the hotel other than by boat. No countryside or paths that can be accessed on foot from the hotel. The morning free taxi service to Rio Dulce is either before breakfast at 7am or not until 10.45. The staff were not very friendly, especially the females.However the setting is idyllic. Take mosquito repellent for the evenings. The price quoted on Hostelworld was less than I had to pay at the end, but the staff weren't interested in this.
