Not quite sure why this hostal has such bad reviews. Great location, not too loud, good food (bit slow to come but this is Latin America). $2 a beer on the edge of a quiet version of lake Atitalan basically. Swimming pool is a nice plus.

Beautiful location, however some strange interactions with some of the staff. We were interrupted during dinner about outstanding bills which had been settled or not even ours. Both pools drained for half of our stay, it’s also not recommended to not swim in the lake- one girl we knew got sick. More of a local drinking area with a few rooms rather than a hostel. Check in was 1.5 hours late too. The food was expensive for the quality, also took a very long time for every meal to arrive.
