Villa Martial Arts Gym & Hostel

This is my second time staying at Villa and I enjoyed it as much as the firs. The hostel is under new management, James (the new owner) is present and really approachable, he hangs out at the hotel so you get to know him as well as his staff. It’s clear he has real ambition for the hostel and is turning it into a great place to stay and train. Super easy to meet people, the bathrooms are clean and it’s in a convenient location.

This hostel has a cool concept of combining martial arts & accommodation. I recommend you take a class to build social connections, everyone is really welcoming & encouraging if you’re a beginner. The staff incredible. You get to know Amin & Pai really well. James, the owner, is really friendly and approachable. The accommodation does the job and the location is convenient.

I didn’t like my stay here. While the staff were very nice, the whole place was dirty, we didn’t have toilet paper the two days we were in the room, I booked an all female dorm which didn’t exist so was put in a mixed dorm, there was a cockroach in my bed, the room was really hot even with the fans on and the common room bathroom was unbelievably dirty with grime on the bath and toilet paper all over the floor. The place felt more like a boys club than anything else. Also no lock on the door.
