Galle Face Terrace Hostel by Tourlux

Convenient location for a one-night stay and had all the basics. Was a bit noisy in the evening with people chatting in the common areas after the quiet period.

Great location. Fine for one night. As women we didn’t feel safe - the door didn’t close properly and there is a window between the men’s and women’s bathroom so you can always hear men. Cold shower in the room so you have to go downstairs for a hot shower.

The hostel was fine for a 1 night stay, the location is central (albeit down a side alley) and the facilities were good, we had a 4 bed dorm with ensuite and there was a communal kitchen downstairs. The staff were really friendly to us. However, the door in our room didn’t even shut properly, let alone lock, which made us feel a bit uneasy as any welcome could then come into the room during the night, plus it meant it was very light in the room. I wouldn’t say there was any social atmosphere.
