was an amazing hostel we loved our 5 person room in the lodge we basically had the place to ourselves and loved hanging out in the lodge and hot tub. The breakfast scones were amazing and the owner was so kind pointing out the best walks around franz josef and fox glacier. Would come back definitely

Really enjoyed this property. The owner does a great job running the place himself but with a few cosmetic touches and a couple of volunteer staff to help clean the place it would be one of the best. The fresh coffee in the morning was an excellent touch.

The best thing about this place is that it's in a great place. FJG and the general area is stunning. The receptionist was very friendly and gave us great suggesstions for hikes, where to see glowworms, etc. The problem is this one guy is all the staff there is. He can't possibly keep up with all the cleaning and maintenance. The place is filthy and just falling apart. You start to feel like you need to wash your hands after touching anything in the place. And don't get me started on the hot tub!
