Pretty basic Hostel. Great location in the heart of old San Juan. The balcony view of Calle Fortaleza is the best part of this hostel. Not much of a social vibe, but it is what you make it. The lone staff member speaks little English but does his best to assist w/ check-in.

This hostel is a mess. The man at the check-in desk speaks no English and uses pencil and paper for your reservation. The rooms are very small and not very clean. At night you can hear EVERYTHING. There is absolutely no soundproofing in the 4-bed dorms. The showers only have cold water and it’s a very light trickle. The kitchen is gross too. After my 2nd night here, the power went out and I was left with nowhere to charge my stuff or go to the bathroom without it being pitch black. I left early.

Probably the ropiest place I've stayed in the last decade of travelling. San Juan is not a cheap place to stay, but for $100 I'd have expected a clean bathroom, a shower that was more than a cold dribble, and less of the feeling of staying in a low rent brothel. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
